Chapter 362

A few knocks echoed on the door. Then, the assistant shuffled over to open it. Some folks outside seemed to be chit-chatting. Turning to Jennifer, the assistant announced, “Jennifer, Mr. Austin is here.”

Jennifer nodded, sipping her coffee. “Show him in.”

Mr. Austin entered, and a young girl trailed behind him.

Jennifer, a long time buddy of Mr. Austin, stood up. As he approached, Mr. Austin said, “Hope I’m not interrupting anything.” His gaze landed on Aaron, recognizing him instantly. “You must be Aaron.”

Aaron nodded in response. “Hello, Mr. Austin.”

He walked up and shook hands with Mr. Austin. An actor like Aaron, with both talent and popularity, was a rare breed in show biz. Mr. Austin held him in high regard. After some small talk, Mr. Austin’s attention drifted to the young girl standing behind Aaron. In fact, he had noticed her the moment he stepped in. She had a pure, hazy charm as if veiled in a soft mist. Her features were beautiful, her aura unique, and she was certainly eye-catching.

He was sure she wasn’t a student from their school because he would’ve noticed her if she was. Seeing her with Aaron, he guessed she must’ve been Aaron’s friend.

Aaron, noticing the girl Mr. Austin had brought in, understood that Mr. Austin was here to make a recommendation. So, he turned to Jennifer and said, “Mr. Austin, Allison and I won’t hang around here and bother you guys anymore. We’ll head out and leave you guys to chat.”

Allison chimed in, “Goodbye, Jennifer”

Jennifer nodded. “Mm-hmm.”

Once Allison and Aaron had left, she turned her attention to the girl behind Mr. Austin. She looked about Allison’s age, had an innocent face, and a youthful energy about her. Her features were gorgeous, her dress sense tasteful. But beautiful girls were a dime a dozen in Hollywood; she wasn’t particularly a standout

Jennifer looked at Mr. Austin. “Austin, take a seat. It’s been a while.”

Mr. Austin chuckled “Yep, I’ve heard you’re prepping for a new movie. How’s that coming along?”

“Not bad, had a few hiccups, but it’s all sorted out. Austin, you didn’t come here just to ask about my movie, did you? Introduce your friend to me.”

“This is Mandy, the top student in our acting department. Pride colored Mr. Austin’s words.

Mandy was a bit nervous, standing in front of Jennifer. “Hello, Jennifer.”

Jennifer nodded, gesturing for the assistant to come over. The assistant promptly served two cups of coffee. Mr. Austin took a sip. “You can give her a try, she’s pretty darn good among her peers.”

Jennifer nodded, giving Mandy a scenario to act out. Mandy performed swiftly, and Jennifer chuckled. “Not bad.”

A smile spread across Mandy’s face, but Mr. Austin knew Jennifer too well. Her lukewarm response meant she wasn’t impressed and was just saying this for the sake of him. He said to Mandy, “Mandy, why don’t you step outside for a bit? Jennifer and I need to talk.”

“Okay.” Mandy nodded, a hint of unease creeping into her heart. Was her performance not good enough? She was at the top of her class, always praised by her teacher for her vibrant and spirited performances. She was skilled at using various techniques, and every subtle movement came off as natural and real.

Despite her confusion, she didn’t interrupt Mr. Austin and Jennifer’s conversation. She stepped out of the lounge, clutching her hands lightly. She would sneak glances at the room, unable to see what was happening inside. Looking around, she found herself alone, so, she decided to press her ear against the door, trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. Sadly, she couldn’t hear a thing.
