Daphne's Point of View With everything that has happened within the last year | feel like nothing should be able to surpriseanymore. Carolyn tellingthat my mother sent a warning was a huge surprise though. | quickly tried to cover my shock because | did not want Carolyn to think that | was viewing her any differently. The young girl already admitted that she had issues with people questioning her gift. | have no doubt in my mind that Carolyn is speaking the truth. For one she never met my mother, and | highly doubt that she would know her name. The second reason is the last set of words my mother said to her about Scarlett being in danger. If | were the one in danger my mother never would have shown herself; however, Scarlett was the diamond in my mother’s eyes. There is nothing that my mother would not do to save her favorite child.
“Thank you so much for delivering that message toCarolyn. | want you to know that | think you are incredibly brave. | am sorry that the spirit was not particularly nice to you.” | tell the young child. Leave it up to my mother to be condescending while asking someone for help. Even beyond the grave that woman knows how to grate my nerves.
“Thank you, Luna | hope | do not see her again.” Carolyn is still a little upset about the encounter.
“| hope you do not see that woman either. She sounds like a beast.” | could not help but throw a little jab in there, hoping that she can somehow hear my words.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Now Carolyn | have a very grown-up question to ask you. Can you keep a secret?” The young girl nodded her head vigorously at my question, insinuating that she could keep things to herself. “This is a very big secret, even in our pack.” | explain to her. “There are other wolves like you here in our pack. Wolves that have special gifts bestowed upon us, and we can do great things. Theo and | help these wolves grow their talents and train them. Would you like to join our special training program Carolyn?” The young girl considers the offer for a moment. “If there are other wolves likethan how c| have never seen them?” “Well like | said we keep it a secret. Alpha and | do not want anyone to try to hurt our special wolves, or to exploit their peculiar talents. So, we train in private, and we keep it a secret, sort of like a super-secret club.” | try to explain to her why she has not seen anyone else’s talents.
“Carolyn | am a special wolf too.” | was grateful that Anita chose to speak up. | would never out another peculiar wolf without their permission.
“Really?” Carolyn asked her with big round eyes.
“Yes, really silly girl. | can help people and now certain animals have babies. | am also good with interacting with kids, and soothing grumpy infants.” It had taken Theo and | stto confirm that Anita had a special ability. Finally, curiosity had gotten the best of me, and | struck up a conversation with her. She had disclosed that around certain people she felt a calm flow of energy that would lead her to placing her hands on the woman and boom a little while later she would learn that woman was pregnant. We had tried various methods of expanding her abilities and have been decently successful with it.
“Wow | did not know that. So, you train with Luna too?” Carolyn asked her. Anita confirmed that she did indeed train with me.
“] want to join too. | want to make more friends that are like me.” Carolyn answered in a squealing high pitched voice.
“That is very good. For now, Carolyn you must keep this a secret even from your mommy. | know that normally we would not keep secrets from your mother, but | have guests right now so it is going to takea few days before | can speak with her. Alpha and | will talk with your mom and get everything set up, then | will introduce you to sof the other special wolves and we will start focusing on a training plan for you as well, ok?” | explained carefully to the young girl.
Carolyn agreed to the terms and soon | was hugging her and Anita goodbye. | needed to start getting ready for dinner, but | was emotionally still in shock. A huge part ofwas still very angry that my mother only chose to reveal herself because Scarlett was in danger. | mulled over the message that Carolyn had given me, trying to analyze any clues as to what my mother had meant.
| was particularly confused about the part of Axle not being Hannah's mate. How was a trick even possible? | had never heard of someone being able to trick another person into believing that someone was their mate. Perhaps she was trying to informthat Axle was lying and that he simply wanted Hannah. Axle is rather young, and | have heard of young males trying to trick females for sexual pleasure. | hate to tell him but if that is the case Hannah will have him by the balls faster than he can blink. It also makesquestion if this is what she meant by not everyone here should be trusted? At first, | was sure she meant Noah, or even Melissa. They both would be the obvious choice of people that | do not trust. Even after Melissa and | had the talk at the spa | still would not trust her. Plus, my mother said there was a snake. Was is the sperson that she was referencing that could not be trusted? Ugh | wish she would have been clearer about everything. Even now my mother has figured out a way to torture me, Goddess knows she was a fan of psychological abuse. Maybe this is a sick gthat my mother is trying to destroymentally? Still as the Luna of this pack, and as Scarlett’s sister | cannot take this lightly.
| begin to analyze the current guests that we have here in the pack house. Alpha Marcus, Caleb, and Theo have been friends for a very long time. Although Caleb, and Theo are closer | can see the bond that the tshare. Luna Lola is Marcus's mate, and although we have not known her as long, | do not see her going against her mate, nor do | see her as being deceptive. She is loud, rambunctious, and flamboyant but | have seen kindness and a fierce loyalty in her, so | doubt | need to worry about her. Plus, she was highly protective of the children they rescued recently even though she has the knowledge that they are hybrids.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm| then thought of Alpha Jerand his Luna Alma. They are older and stepping down as leaders of their pack. Alma had once snuck in a gift forwhen | was a child, and that makes it very difficult forto believe that they would intend any harm for me, or any of my pack members. | do remember that at one tmy father had hoped that their son would be Scarlett’s mate, but | do not think that caused any discord with them when it turned out that they were not fated mates. | also do not see any benefit to the Mission pack by betraying ours. They have plenty of land, and they have never seemed power hungry. Although | do not know their son and future Alpha Hawk well, he was raised by Jerand Alma so | do not believe he would be malicious.
Alpha Axle is young and can act immature. His actions when he arrived here were rash, and not well thought out. Although | am still confused as to why he believes that Hannah is his mate, he did act as if he fully believed that she was the one. Is he being tricked, or is he the trickster? Since | do not know the answer to this, he is now suspicious in my mind. He also brought along his Beta Corey, who has been very quiet. Normally | would not deem this behavior suspicious but now | am curious if he is simply gathering intel.
Then there is Alpha Cole to consider as well. | do not know how well Caleb knows this man. He has experienced tragedy in his young life, could that have made him bitter? | did applaud his reaction to Hannah when he first arrived, but it could have simply of been a ruse. He did arrive without any soldiers, or even his Beta. | had assumed that he had felt comfortable enough to cby himself, but now | wonder if that was again a ruse to put us more at ease around him. For now, he does not have my trust.
Finally, there is Alpha Noah, and Luna Melissa. They of course are the obvious choice of people that | would suspect of betrayal.
Beyond the fact that they both torturedwhen | was a child, | know that Noah does not like that he did not earn the Alpha title. It is no leap of the imagination to see them causing a scene or trying skind of trick to hurt our pack.
As | was mulling this new mystery over Caleb cinto the room. | knew that | could not keep this information from him, but | hate that | am laying yet another problem at his feet.
“Caleb, we need to talk.”
