"You should have died, you fucking peasant!"
"Give me back my money, little pest!!!"
"Noo….I…I bet my whole fortune…my wife will lynch me…"
"Please. Just return my money…I will do everything, everything you want in return!"
Tens, if not hundreds of voices were overlapping as the ordinary people, who had fallen to the addiction of gambling, cried and shouted bitterly in front of the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria in a desperate attempt to retrieve their money.
Several guards had been stationed around the wooden counter of the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria where a young man was the only one who was calmly standing while handing over the ticket to the bet he made.
His palms were lightly resting over the lower end of his sheathed Dragontale Twin Sabers as he listened to the desperate outcries of the people behind him, all clamoring to get their hard-earned money back.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThere was not really a need for him to say something, or pay the ordinary people any attention because he was flanked by two guards on either side who had been ordered to protect and follow him.
Zayn was not really sure if that kind of treatment was normal after winning one of the Colosseum's Challenges but he couldn't really be bothered about it. The guards were quite helpful in keeping the desperate and angry mob away from him as he proceeded to calmly finish his business with the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria.
'With a multiplicator of 108…I should get how many silver and copper coins? Roughly 9.000 silver coins or something like that…right?' Zayn was currently struggling to figure out how big his gains from a single challenge were. The noises around him didn't bother him but they certainly distracted him from calculating.
"Here is your full reward. A total of 91 gold coins, 6 silver coins, and 56 copper coins. Please verify the correct amount and sign the form here," The young man in front of him said, handing over a heavy pouch filled with tinkling gold, silver, and copper coins.
Next to the pouch was a form that had to be signed by Zayn to verify that he received his reward, the correct amount at that,.
"What about the standard reward for winning a Colosseum Challenge?" Zayn asked while signing the form after taking a quick glance inside the pouch.
He didn't bother counting everything. After all, the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria had more to lose if they would hand out the wrong rewards to a dark horse, even more so if it would be too little. One big scandal, and the entire Colosseum would be on fire, not literally though.
It was just their reputation that would reduce to dust, hitting rock bottom in an instant.
"Yes?" The young man asked, a little baffled. His expression changed at once and his eyes widened a little after he realized who Zayn was, "I'm sorry, I completely forgot about the reward. Five gold coins, it is. Here they are!"
The young man hurriedly handed over five gold coins which Zayn put into the pouch with his remaining money. Zayn was just about to put the pouch with his money into one of his expanding pouches when he noticed that they were still sealed.
"This bastard…" He mumbled to himself before he turned around to leave the entrance hall of the Colosseum when he noticed a few things he hadn't really focused on before.
First of all, not only were the Gamblers staring at him but also every single member of the staff was looking at him, unable to hide their curiosity and astonishment.
Nobody had expected Zayn to survive the challenge, let alone have an upper hand and kill the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger. That was something Zayn realized while looking at the expressions of the staff.
But it was somewhat understandable. Normies were considered weaker than Blessed, by a large margin, at that. And, monsters were generally considered to be stronger than Blessed. To fight a monster at the same rank, Blessed usually had to form a small hunting group. So there was simply no comparison between the strength of a Normie and a monster. Normies were a lot weaker than monsters, especially powerful ones such as the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger.
Yet, Zayn had done the impossible and easily beheaded the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger.
That had multiple reasons, with only one of them being that the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger had lost its touch as a ferocious hunter with great instincts after being caged for a decade.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmZayn was pretty sure that the basic understanding of the strengths of Normies, Blessed, and Monsters was too stiff and rigid. However, in reality not every monster was stronger than Blessed, and not every Normie was weaker than a Blessed.
There were many Blessed who were actually not stronger than ordinary Normies. But the general populace was not willing to accept something like this, otherwise, they would be able to understand that Zayn was stronger than many Blessed.
Meanwhile, Zayn ignored the shocked gazes and turned back to the direction that led to the staircase down to the basement where his room was located. However, a new obstacle had appeared in front of him.
It was a brightly smiling middle-aged man with golden hair, who was awaiting him.
'This man really bothers me…' Zayn thought as he returned a faint smile to Manager Tilan.
"Looks like we had only one lucky winner today," Manager Tilan said, still keeping up with his bright and shining facade. He didn't seem bothered about the death of the Blazing Sabertooth Tiger, or that he had to pay Zayn 96 gold coins, though the latter was probably less of a problem.
"I think the Colosseum is the lucky winner here. After all, the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria should have made a big fortune from the losses of all the bets of the Gamblers who wished desperately for my death," Zayn retorted, smiling back at Manager Tilan even brighter than before.
He was trying to provoke the manager but that didn't seem to work out. It would take more to offend and provoke Manager Tilan.
"Who knows?" Manager Tilan shrugged before he added, "Either way, what are you going to do now?"
Zayn understood where the discussion was going with the question that hung in the air, and he couldn't help but laugh in his mind.
'Now…Now, I'm going to whoop your ass, you bubbly, bright sunshine freak!'
