"Huh...my body...it feels so light!" Damien inwardly shouted in surprise as if the weight of ten thousand mountains was suddenly lifted off his back.
"Good. Now go and get that dagger! I am sure it wouldn't act against you if it got at least a tinge of intelligence left," Luna confidently said.
Damien's energy reserves were almost empty, and he knew that he could only keep up his Undying Wrath skill for a bit longer.
So, despite feeling totally exhausted and tired, he pushed his body to go forward since at least now he was not facing any kind of resistance. If he was still facing the pressure from before, then he was sure he would have collapsed on the floor within a minute.
"Eh?" Yuria and Valentina, who were frozen on the spot because of the immense pressure, were astonished to see Damien walking forward without any resistance at all.
His movements seemed a bit sluggish, but they could see that it was because he was tired and not because of the aura from the dagger.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe two of them then suddenly looked at each other and backed away since if they had stayed in the same spot any longer, they would have collapsed on the floor.
They could see that Damien somehow found a way to circumvent the aura pressure from the dagger and decided to let him do what they couldn't.
As long as one of them got to the dagger, it was fine.
The little king was not surprised that Myria and Alena decided to give up, but his jaw dropped when he saw Godnim was still able to push forward!
By now, Damien was only twenty meters away from the dagger and was still moving forward at a slow pace since keeping up his Undying Wrath was taking a toll on his body, especially when he was running on fumes.
Even if the dagger was not giving him trouble, his body surely was.
"H-How is this possible??" The little king mumbled as he saw that Damien even broke his father's record by going past thirty meters.
He didn't dare to believe that someone as young as Godnim was stronger than his father. Even his sister, with her unique ethereal cores in the past, was as strong as her father but unable to use all that strength.
So he decided to ask Alena and Myria as they returned to watch Damien from behind, "Lady Alena and Myria, does Godnim have some kind of special constitution like my sister? Is his cultivation really higher than the Heaven Ethereal Realm?"
Yuria felt amused hearing this innocent question from the little king, though Valentina already began to explain, "Of course, not. But Godnim is just built differently than us. Sometimes strength is not everything, but maybe this sacred dagger is looking for something else as well. Maybe the dagger considers him worthy of getting near it..."
The little king nodded in realization, thinking that maybe she was right, and since this was a sacred weapon, he felt that the sacred dagger was testing by exerting its aura on those who tried to approach it and would only let those who are worthy near it.
Thinking like that, he felt that maybe one's cultivation didn't matter at all, but also, at the same time, he felt sad that the sacred dagger didn't consider him worthy at all since he wasn't even able to take one step towards it.
Valentina only said what she felt, but she had no idea that she was very close to the truth.
However, no matter how tired he was feeling, Damien was determined to reach the dagger. He was also feeling as if the dagger wanted him to come towards it, just like Luna speculated.
He could feel the nethereal energy in his body getting magnetically attracted towards the dagger.
But something surprising happened when he was within ten meters of the dagger as a feeble voice of a woman sounded in his mind, "Child...who are you...how can someone like you exist in the Aether dimension?"
The voice sounded quite ancient but weary, as if it was tired of trying its best to live on.
"Hmm...your soul...how strange...something inside is blocking my senses...who are you hiding inside your soul?"
Damien inwardly became anxious, not expecting this sentient dagger to quickly deduce that he was hiding something or someone in his soul. He didn't even feel that it was trying to prod his soul.
"Hmph, I blocked her senses from digging into your soul. She just wants to know what makes you tick, I bet. After all, how could someone with nethereal energy survive in the Aether dimension? Even I would have done the same as her if not for our fate getting entwined like this," Luna remarked and continued, "But I can't let her find out about me. The last thing I want is to risk whatever energy I have saved for myself."
"Senior, I can answer that...but is this time for you to be concerned about such things?" Damien decided to divert its attention by changing the subject as he got within five meters of it.
He knew he couldn't lie to an ancient entity and would surely get found out. So instead, he decided to use its current plight to point out some things.
"There is a reason why you let me approach you, isn't it, Senior? If you are asking me how a person like me can exist in this dimension, then I have the same question as well. I know you come from a world where the energy that is flowing through my body now is the one that dominates. And since there is no nethereal energy in this Aether dimension, you are dying, right?" Damien asked the questions that mattered the most.
The crimson dagger became strangely silent, making Damien inwardly think that he definitely was making her think about her own life.
He then asked respectfully, just to make things comfortable, "Senior, can I ask for your name please? This junior's name is Damien Godwin."
