Chapter 1269 A Little Show
The chubby son of the mayor tried to wake his father up, but no matter what he did, he couldn't he couldn't wake up his father at all.
The man by his side seemed to have stopped trying too, looking behind him at something. The son turned around and saw the girl that had initially injured his father.
"Someone!" he shouted. "Kill that girl!" However, no one moved immediately, mostly for two reasons.
First, it didn't look like the girl was the guilty person in this case at all. If her side of the story was to be believed, then it was the mayor that wanted to steal her beasts.
Given that they knew about the mayor's personality, they were more than willing to accept this side of him, more than the fact that this little girl had beaten them for no reason.
Secondly, this girl had beaten the mayor while he was with 4 other people. They were not going to go out and attack her just because some fat guy told them to.
They would have to be careful.
Adding onto that the fact that the mayor's son didn't hold as much authority over them, none of them immediately moved at all.

Ning looked at them and sighed. "Hey, you lot!" he spoke. "Yes, you lot who are hesitating to go capture my daughter. I can see that you are good people stuck in a bad situation. I will forgive you, just walk away. Don't worry, your mayor won't die here."
The people looked at him and heard him, and that made them hesitate even further. They didn't leave immediately, but they also hesitated more to go capture the girl.
Ning looked at them and realized that they needed a bit more pursuance. He turned around toward Byron who was just a standby at this point, with nothing to do in the situation at all.
He simply stood there and watched everything that unfolded.
"Byron, your senses are strong, correct?" he asked him.
Byron nodded. "More so than anyone's here, by a long shot," he said.
Ning smiled. "You might want to dull them down if you can. Try not to sense the next few things," he said.
Byron wasn't sure what he meant, but he did as he was asked. He focused just on himself, and barely any focus was put outward at all.
Ning turned back around and looked toward his daughter who was confused. Instead of saying something to her, he turned toward Umbra who was next to her.
"Umbra, would you mind scaring them a bit?" he asked.
"Scaring them?" Umbra asked curiously.
"Just a bit of your essence will do," Ning said.
"Okay," Umbra said and without any hesitation released her aura.
Suddenly, the world seemed to darken even more so than the clouded skies that were above everyone's head. The ground darkened even more with the shadow essence that slowly filled the air.
The amount of essence was low, but the strength it bore was something else. Living near the ocean, every one of these humans had sensed the passing of a Divine beast in the ocean in the distance.
However, never had they ever sensed something that they felt was beyond all. As close as she was, especially when she tired, the Stellar Harmony realm Umbra felt even more powerful than the Divine realm beasts to these people.
A few dropped to the ground in shock, and two fainted. One started crying and calling for their mother while the remaining ones were simply too scared to do anything at all but tremble in fear as in front of them stood a beast that defied the possibilities that they had set in their mind.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe beasts that came with the carriage cowered in fear as well, trembling in the presence of something far beyond themselves. "That's enough," Ning said and had Umbra take away her aura. When the shadow Essence left, light returned to the area, the ground becoming a bright place again.
The feeling of dread leaving made the people there feel as if they will filled with life again. No longer having to fear that death was imminent, some of them even began to cry in relief.
Byron trembled as well. He had done his best to not try and sense whatever was happening next, but he couldn't help it at all. When else would he gain an opportunity to sense something like this? ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ nov????l(f)ire
He wasn't sure if what he was done was stupid or not, but now that it had passed, he was glad that he did it.
The men that were grabbing only Ning had already loosened their hands or had left him completely. No one there was focused on them anymore.
"So, I will tell you all this one more time," Ning said. "You are all good people, so I will let you all leave. Leave now, or you will have to try and fight the beast."
There was no more hesitating now. The men and women turned around and left, not before glancing at the young girl and the black beast.
Once they were all gone, only 3 people were left there.
Byron, the mayor, and the mayor's son.
Byron had simply not left because he knew Ning wasn't going to hurt him. The Mayor hadn't left because he was unconscious. And as for the son, it didn't take Ning too long to realize that he had shit himself out of fear.
Ning shook his head and looked at Byron. "I will come by your shop tomorrow. Take care of your uncle and cousin for now," he said and walked away.
Byron stood there in awe as he watched Ning leave. He had just terrified the strongest men in the town and was now leaving as if he had done nothing significant at all.
He couldn't help but wish that someday, he could be like that as well.
