Chapter 54
Ye Qing stopped talking when Jing Yunzhao glanced at her emotionlessly.
It was as if Jing Yunzhao forgot that Ye Qing was still standing right in front of her. Jing Yunzhao turned away but Ye Qing managed to catch the look on Jing Yunzhao’s face – like she had seen something so disgusting that she couldn’t bear looking at it.
That was odd.
Jing Yunzhao must have chickened out of arguing with her.

“Borrow some money?! Would it kill you to not mind others’ business? If you’re so obsessed with Qiao Hongye, just go to her and stop buzzing around us like a fly or I swear I’ll sew your lips together!” Xiao Haiqing snarled and threw a book at Jiang Xia, which hit him right in the face.
Xiao Haiqing’s aim was so good that Jing Yunzhao almost cheered for her. Jing Yunzhao smiled affectionately and reached out to give Xiao Haiqing a hug. “Well said.”
“Of course. I have to control myself or I would have started criticizing his family and ancestors,” Xiao Haiqing scoffed, tossing her hair over her shoulder arrogantly.
Jing Yunzhao was greatly amused by Xiao Haiqing. Xiao Haiqing had indeed been rather soft-spoken recently, and it got Jing Yunzhao thinking that this Xiao Haiqing had a different character from the Xiao Haiqing in her previous life.
Jiang Xia, on the other hand, was definitely no match for Xiao Haiqing if they got into a physical fight. Knowing that, Jiang Xia just silently turned back to his own seat, pretending that their conversation never happened.
“Wuss!” Xiao Haiqing sneered, lips curled in disgust.
Ye Qing was annoyed by Jiang Xia’s attitude too. She walked back to her seat sulkily, pulling out her chair roughly and slamming her table loudly. She finally simmered down when she realized no one was giving her the attention she wanted.
Saturday arrived in the blink of an eye. Jing Yunzhao left the apartment early in the morning and headed to the alley.
She brought a fine-looking ginseng this time to see if the old Mr. Xu could afford it.
The value of ginseng varied. There was ginseng which cost thousands per kilogram, and ginseng which cost tens of thousands or even millions each.
This ginseng that Jing Yunzhao was selling today was watered with a bit more magical water in her secret space than her other herbs. She usually used magical water diluted in normal water at a 1:100 ratio for her herbs, but she used magical water diluted in normal water at?a ratio of 1:10 for this ginseng. The ginseng and each of its roots had been handled with care and Jing Yunzhao could tell that it was a premium ginseng from the way the spirit of the jade bottle wouldn’t leave the ginseng alone.

“I have something to show you. I am ready to sell if you are interested, but it’s fine if you are not…” Jing Yunzhao felt sorry for the old Mr. Xu. He was an eccentric man who had no one but his cold, emotionless apprentice by his side.
“Stop talking nonsense and show it to me. So long-winded,” the old Mr. Xu grumbled, shooting a glare at Jing Yunzhao.
Although she didn’t know Mr. Xu for long, Jing Yunzhao knew he had a temper and was not bothered by his rude tone at all.
When Jing Yunzhao took out the ginseng, the old Mr. Xu looked surprised as if he could smell the ginseng through the wrapper.
He took the ginseng from Jing Yunzhao carefully and his eyes widened when he unwrapped it.
“Are you only using this piece of paper to wrap a ginseng as precious as this? You are lucky that the root was not damaged or you would not be allowed in this house ever again!”
