Chan Ci continued his onslaught of attacks on Mei Ling using elemental attacks. Once he saw her dodge it once he knew this was the way to go. He actually had some hope of winning if he could land at least one hit.
But what Chan Ci saw was not someone struggling to dodge his onslaught but a young girl dancing around within the lightning. She spun in circles and leaned to the side as the lightning soared past her as if it was trying to avoid her. Her dance was so beautiful that the audience seemed to be captivated by it.
Mei Ling twisted and turned. She was actually having quite a bit of fun. It was not every day that she would get a chance to fight someone outside her family with elemental based attacks, and lightning was definitely a dangerous element. So as she dodged each strike with the bare minimum distance, she decided to refine some of her footwork as well. In the end, she had created a movement technique that was made for her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs she got used to using this new movement technique, she suddenly disappeared from where she was and reappeared to stand in front of Chan Ci, raised her sword, and struck down at him. Chan Ci was startled at this sudden turn of events and quickly raised his sword to defend, but as he did, he was met with a small white fist smashing him in the face. Chan Ci's body flew back and skidded across the stage.
For the first time in his life, Chan Ci had actually fallen for a feint and was struck stupid. He lay there with blood flowing from his nose and let out a laugh. "Excellent! Again!"
Yes, he was not mad. He was not depressed. He was actually finding this battle to be truly resourceful. He was learning a lot and felt like with just a bit more of a push. He would actually break a barrier to the next level of his understanding of the sword.
He hopped up onto his feet and charged at Mei Ling. Mei Ling smiled and decided to play with him a bit. The two crossed swords and began a fast pace back and forth across the battle stage. The sound of metal against metal could be heard here and there as sparks flew. Their speed was so fast that many could not even see their movements. Only those of higher cultivation were able to see them.
Five minutes passed, then ten minutes passed. Fifty minutes later, Mei Ling stood in front of Chan Ci with her sword held at her side. Chan Ci had sat down and was now meditating. Mei Ling was not going to disturb him as she knew he had reached some kind of enlightenment.
Up in the sect master seats, Kana yawned and stretched her arms. "Little Ling seems to want the young man to gain his enlightenment so she can fight him after."
"She did look like she was having fun." Creige saw the wide smile on Mei Ling's face and knew she was finally having the fun she was looking for.
"What I am more amazed at is her footwork. She used the lightning attacks as a means to create her own way of movement that is perfect for her. Once again, Little Ling seems to be trying to get ahead of her elder sister!" Yana pouted. She found Mei Ling's ability to grow truly frightening.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Hehe…. Yana, don't worry too much. You train like crazy as it is and are gaining just as much in the way of the sword as Mei Ling is. Each day you grow more as well. So you will always be ahead." Rain said, trying to make Yana feel better, but Yana's pout got even bigger.
"Rain, no matter how much I train by myself, there is no way to truly advance when there is no one to spar against who is better." Yana explained. It was not that she did not have room to grow. It was just that she had no means of being able to fight stronger opponents.
"Hmmm? You want to fight someone strong?" Kana's voice entered Yana's ears, causing her to shiver. She did not wish to fight her Mama. She fought her once, and it was her just getting beaten up for an hour. When her Mama trains people, she is mean!
"No! No! I am sure I can find someone to train with soon... Hahaha… I will be sure to work even harder without being surpassed. Hahaha." Each time Yana laughed, it was very dry and forced. She just didn't want her Mama to train her anymore!
"It's fine. I will start training you again after the tournament. Angelica actually sent all her knowledge into my mind not long ago, so I can easily teach you many new techniques that will match well with your current sword stances. Just remember not to be late for training." Kana smiled brightly. She liked training with her daughters. Although she might be strict while training them, she is preparing them for what is to come. But what she did not understand was at first, Yana was all for training with her, but now she seems reluctant to.
Rain and Angelica both giggled at the side while Yana slouched down in her chair with a small pout on her lips. She glared at her two sisters before turning to Kana and saying: "Rain and Angelica also should join. They could use some proper training as well."
""What! Yana, you traitor!"" both girls yelled out at the same time.
"Oh? Okay! Then all four of us will train together!" Kana was happy she could spend quality time with her daughters. She swayed her feet back and forth, not paying attention to the pale faces her daughters had. Creige saw this and chuckled as he pulled Kana into his arms and hugged her. Kana smiled and snuggled into his embrace. She couldn't wait until after the torunament was over.
