Alex picked up the package he dropped and pulled out a white robe before walking back over to the bed. "It might feel a bit embarrassing, but bear with it for now."
Rain nodded and, with blushed cheeks, lowered the blanket so that, with Alex's help, could put the robe on. Her entire face was red all the way to the tips of her ears. She could also feel her heart beating so fast that it might even jump out of her chest. Alex did his best to make things quick. Once the robe was on, he did not tie it since Rain had many wounds around her waist. He just gently pulled the covers back up over her after slipping the backside of the robe underneath her. "For now, it will need to stay open, but tomorrow you will need to wash and redress your wounds. I know it is uncomfortable, but it needs to get done, or we will never get the poison out of your system."
"Mmm… I know. Thank you. Um... Alex..." Rain's head was lowered since she still felt embarrassed, but she also knew he was doing this for her own good. She clenched her fist and looked over at him as he cleaned up the bowl on the floor and asked: "When I am all better, is there anything I can do to repay you?"
"Just being healthy is enough." Alex turned and smiled. He did not do this to receive payment. He just wanted Rain to be fully healed again.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Oh..." Rain lowered her head. She decided she would try to figure out a way to repay him once she was able to walk around again.
That night it rained. The sounds of the raindrops hitting the thatched roof of the cottage were like a sweet melody that allowed Rain to drift off to sleep. Alex snuck a peek to see how she was doing to find that she had gone to sleep. He slowly walked into the room and adjusted the blanket to cover her more before putting out the magic lamp next to the bed. He then walked out of the room and closed the door. He picked the blanket he had folded up on the floor and sat down and put it over him as he leaned against the door.
"What are you doing, Alex..." Alex held his head as he remembered the images of Rain's blushing face. "She is cute…" With a sigh, he closed his eyes to try to get some shut eye.
When morning came, it was still raining out. Alex opened his eyes and slowly got up. He turned and knocked on the door. "I'm awake..." A soft voice came from within, causing his heart to stir. He opened it to see Rain sitting up in the bed, looking back at him.
"How are you? Are you hungry?" Alex asked.
"Mmm… I could eat something… But is this okay? I mean me eating your food?" Rain asked. She felt bad he not only bought her something to wear but was also feeding her and taking care of her wounds.
"It's fine. You need your strength, and I am not short on food." Alex answered with a smile. "It will be raining all day, it seems, so after breakfast, let's clean your wounds and rebandage them. After that, I can bring in a few books if you wish to read something."
"Okay… Umm… Alex… Thank you for everything." Rain really did not know what else to say, and she felt like she was repeating herself. But she truly was grateful for everything Alex was doing for her.
Alex smiled and turned around. "I will go cook."
Thirty minutes later, Alex came back in with two hot steaming bowls of porridge in his hands. He walked into the room and handed one to Rain, and sat down on the floor next to the bed to eat his. Seeing this, Rain smiled and patted the bed. "Just sit up here. I'm sure the floor is cold."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAlex looked up at Rain and nodded. He got up off the floor and sat on the edge of the bed. Rain smiled and quietly ate her food. The two were silent while they ate. Rain was trying to get herself prepared mentally for what was to come after.
After the meal was done, Alex took the bowls out to wash them before coming back with his medical kit. He looked at Rain and asked: "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I can get..." Rain said as she slowly pulled her robe off.
Alex nodded and walked over to the bed and sat down beside her. "I will need you to sit forward for the time being. I will do your back first."
Rain nodded and did as she was told. She saw the serious look in Alex's eyes as he started to work. He was quick in his work. He had finished her back in only a few minutes before moving to her front. Rain couldn't help but blush as he cleaned and dressed the wounds on her chest, her legs, and her thighs. Alex got her a fresh robe and helped her put it on before finally letting out a sigh. "Your wounds are healing well, and most of the poison seems to have left your body. Your body constitution is also good. I think you should be able to get up and walk around in a few days."
"Really?" Rain asked. She was really sick of sitting in bed. She found it highly boring.
"Yep. You will be able to walk around a bit. But from the looks of things, it will probably be a few weeks before you are one hundred percent. If you want, if you are okay with it, I can bring you to the front room to sit by the fire to get a chance of scenery." Alex knew sitting in a room all by herself was boring. So he could only offer this as a means of helping her break that boredom.
"Yes!" Rain answered instantly while; nodding her head. She did not wish to stay in bed for so long. Alex chuckled and said: "Let me put this away first."
A few minutes later, Rain found herself in Alex's arms once again. She looked up at his handsome face and smiled softly. A new feeling was starting to form in her heart, something she had never felt before. It was warm and it felt nice...
