Chapter 235
Chapter 0235
Candice’s whole body twisted from the force of Yvonne’s slap. She instinctively leaned on the chair with
her injured arm for support.
Agony shot through Candice, and her face broke out in a cold sweat, her skin ghostly pale.
The pain was so overwhelming that she struggled to breathe or speak. All she could do was gasp for
air to lessen the torment.
Completely unaware of Candice’s injury. Yvonne pointed at her, screaming. “How can you be so cruel
and ungrateful? You should have addressed him as your father!”
To an outsider, Yvonne’s words made it seem like Candice had done an unforgivable wrong.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Yvonne fell to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Why did I even have you? I feel like I’ve given birth to my own enemy! I would have been better off
taking a few pills and flushing you down the toilet than having you ruin my life now.”
Her voice was raspy from weeping. Her sorrow elicited murmurs from passersby, many
of whom began to criticize Candice.
Still in excruciating pain, Candice was slow to regain her composure. She felt a chilly sweat down her
back.
When Candice didn’t react, Yvonne stood up and grabbed her. “You must apologize to Ivor. Kneel and
say sorry for your misdeeds! You evil child!”
Although she appeared frail, Yvonne gained significant strength from her years of manual labor in
Noxville, where she worked tirelessly to care for Peach. She didn’t hesitate to use this strength,
forcefully pulling Candice toward her.
Candice felt as though her arm might rip off, the severe pain paralyzing half her body. Her forehead

A nearby police officer noticed the ruckus, and stepped in, pulling Yvonne away.
“Please calm down!” he reprimanded Yvonne quietly. “Your daughter is injured too. Do you think.
your man is the only victim here? He’s responsible for her shoulder fracture!”
Yvonne briefly stopped crying, then protested, “But she shouldn’t have struck him there! That’s a
sensitive area for a man!”
Candice endured the discomfort and pinched her leg to restore her voice. Her face was pale as

she looked at Yvonne.
With a cold, low voice, she said. “Who’s really the heartless one? Was it you who told him to cto
Dorrington? Are you aware of what he said about Grandpa and what he called you? How could you fall
so low as to cling to a man who is worse than a beast?” Candice’s anger was palpable in
her biting words.
The more she thought about Ivor’s words from the night before, the more she wished she
could hit him again. She had hoped for ssense and conscience from Yvonne. It turned out
that her mother lacked both, and possibly even dignity.
However, she knew this wasn’t the moment to ponder these thoughts.
Observing her pale face, the officer directed two female officers to escort Candice to the
examination room downstairs.
The check–up revealed that her fracture had worsened.
“If your condition deteriorates, surgery might be needed. You can’t suffer another injury,” the
doctor said seriously as she fixed a splint on Candice.
After receiving the treatment, Candice felt slightly more at ease.
She turned to the officers who had been with her, saying, “I doubt we can resolve this situation
today.“.
The officers nodded, understanding. These sorts of family disputes were the hardest to deal with.
but often the parties could be persuaded to reconcile.
Candice found a quiet area to rest after the officers left until she felt well enough to return home.
As she approached the hospital’s exit, she ran into Helen.
Helen was exiting the elevator with her luggage.
Their last meeting had been about six months prior, also in a hospital. Candice suddenly understood
why Alex had unexpectedly been at the hospital the previous night.
Helen noticed Candice and gave her a once–over before remarking with a sneer. “You look awful.
What’s the matter? Hunting for another rich fool to deceive?”
Unkempt and exhausted, Candice lacked the energy to engage in a confrontation with Helen. She
chose to walk past her silently.
Helen wheeled her luggage past Candice, saying disdainfully. “Just as I thought, typical of
someone low–class!”

By the tCandice finally arrived home, she was soaked in sweat. She wanted to change her clothes
but found it difficult due to her splinted arm.
After resting for a bit, she decided to call Yana.
Yana picked up quickly.
Candice paused momentarily before asking. “Are you free right now?”
Yana took a discreet glance at the person next to her, then turned slightly away before responding.
“What’s up?”

were drained from just talking.
Yana immediately agreed, and Candice hung up.
Yana addressed the man beside her, “Sieg, I need to leave. My friend needs me.”
Sieg was speaking to someone else at the table. He looked up curiously and asked, “Which friend?
Yana responded with a sharp look and rebuked, “It’s not your concern. Remember, I’m only doing this
to appease my father.”
Sieg responded dismissively. “As if I care.”
Yana marched away, her high heels clicking, leaving Sieg to the inquisitive looks of the others.
“Sieg, are you really thinking of marrying Yana? I’ve heard from my mom that your families have. been
getting along well lately,” someone probed.
Sieg’s expression turned to irritation as he retorted, “Marry her? To hell with that! Who would
marry someone like her?”
The conversation shifted to Yana’s previous involvement with Mason, a story familiar to Dorrington.
“Mason?” Sieg was questioned, evidently unaware of this chapter.
“Yes, when you were racing in Ablington, you probably didn’t hear about Yana chasing after Mason.
They were a couple, and there was even talk of marriage. But suddenly, Yana left him and
went abroad. Mason also left the country and hasn’t been back since.”

Sieg’s impatience becevident as he listened. He gestured for the person to stop talking and
quickly sent a text message.
At the smoment, Alex was in his office to sign spapers when his phone rang.
It was a call from the Dorrington Police Station.
“Mr. Elysian, I’m calling concerning the altercation at Silverstone Hospital last night. Since you’re
the only witness, we require statements from you. Could you please cto assist with our
investigation?”
