“Candice, I just wanted to give everyone a little treat for breakfast,” Sonia sald humbly “one seems to

be working hard lately, I heard Winnie say that she’s so busy that she did

After a while, Alex, still expressionless, pointed at the proposal and said coldly. “You and Sonia will

handle the collaboration procedure for Blue Artifact together.”

While Sonia’s face showed delight, Candice felt a chill in her bones.

silver platter for Sonia’s benefit.

Candice met Alex’s dark eyes across the desk. He spoke without any emotion. “What’s the

matter? Any objections?”

Candice’s heart clenched. She looked at the proposal that was set before Alex. “You said that I had the

right to manage the project with Blue Artifact.”

“There hasn’t been much progress in your work.” Alex did not leave her any dignity. His gaze was cold.

“I do not wish for your personal abilities to delay the company’s progress.”

Candice felt that Alex’s words were ridiculous. But she had nothing to refute his claim with. After all,

she had not been able to get in contact with Zane.

She was unwilling to admit defeat, however. She looked straight at Alex and said, “I can go and

“Can Mr. Clark be compared to Mr. Matthias?” Annoyance was visible on Alex’s face. He put the set of

documents aside and his tone turned slightly chilling. “Candice, can you not tell what’s important?”

Candice frowned, unable to understand what he meant.

Did he want her to be obedient and listen to everything Sonia said? Or was it that all the credit for

getting the contract with Blue Artifact had to be given to Sonia?

Her gaze trembled and her voice was soft. “Very well. We’ll do it as you wish.”

When Candice left the office, Sonia stayed behind.

She moved to Alex’s side and asked hesitantly, “Lex, will I really be able to get the contract with Blue

Artifact successfully?”

Alex fell silent for a moment before casually saying, “She will not let the collaboration fall

through.”

Sonia immediately understood that he was referring to Candice. She nodded and gave Alex her

guarantee demurely. “Lex, don’t worry. I will try to learn well from Candice. In the future, when she

is no longer in the company. I’ll be able to help you too.”

Alex was stunned for a moment as a hint of complicated emotions flashed through his eyes.

for two days, had finally relented and agreed to have dinner with her that night.

Slight relief showed on Candice’s face. She did not want to sever ties with Zane, considering the

prestige of a big boss like Mr. Matthias. Candice actually felt that the chances of her reaching out

on her own were slim.

However, when Sonia saw that Candice had to entertain Zane, she couldn’t help but express her

confusion. “Candice, why not arrange an appointment with Mr. Matthias? When Mr. Elysian took me

there yesterday, Mr. Matthias expressed a strong desire to cooperate with us.”
