Chapter 173
The atmosphere was tense the next day in the Stone family conference room. Everyone was waiting, the air thick with impatience and frustration.
"Celena, what's the hold-up? You said the suppliers were coming today. We've been here for over an hour and with not a soul in sight."

Cheryl's patience was hanging by a thread, and she was the first to call Celena out. Her face was an icy mask as she stared her down, eyes gleaming with the thrill of the unfolding drama.
Once Cheryl opened the floodgates, the rest piled on with their own accusations. "Celena, have you secured the supplier or what? If you haven't, just spit it out. Don't waste our time. Step down and let someone with the stuff take over. Do you have any idea how much the Stone family stands to lose if this deal tanks?"
"Seriously! Did you find them or not? Now's not the tfor games. If you screw this up, the Stone family's not just going to take a hit. We'll be on the outs with the Max Group!"
"Reginald, I say we strip Celena of her lead role on the Max Group project, effective immediately!" The room erupted in agreement.
Celena, seated at the bottom of the table, was a bundle of nerves and fear. She compulsively checked her phone for the time. Over an hour had ticked by, and still no word from the supplier. Doubt crept in about whether Liam had even reached out to them. All she could do was silently hope that Liam's words were not just hot air. However, as tdragged on, hope was slipping through her fingers. Had Liam played her for a fool?
Sherah sat off to the side, eyeing Celena's nervousness with a smirk. "Celena, I warned you about Liam. He's a lost cause, a nobody. I told you to leave him, but you just wouldn't listen. Now, his empty promises have left you here to face the music alone, while he's nowhere to be found! With all the eligible bachelors in Drunham City, why waste your ton a deadbeat?"

Celena, surrounded by judgmental glares, felt her helplessness grow. Tears welled up in her eyes as she struggled to defend herself.
"Liam wouldn't lie to me... just a little longer... maybe they got held up..."
However, Reginald was not having any of it. He huffed in disgust, his face twisted with rage. "That's it! Celena, you're done leading this project. Cheryl's taking over. And Cheryl, you better fix this mess with the materials, pronto. We can't have any more setbacks."
Cheryl's grin spread from ear to ear as she sprang to her feet, presenting the contract she had had up her sleeve to Reginald with a flirtatious flutter. "Grandpa, I won't let you down! I've been on top of the material issue from the get-go. Here are contracts from five different suppliers!"
"Is that so?" Reginald beamed at Cheryl. "I knew I was right about you. You're head and shoulders above those who just talk a big game."
The Stone family had been on edge, fearing the project would hit a snag over material shortages, risking a hefty loss. However, Cheryl cthrough, easing their worries. Reginald gave an approving nod, glanced over the contract, and broke into a smile, showering Cheryl with praise.
