Chapter 563
Mdm. Xavier frowned. “Did the Jones family receive a wedding invitation?”
Dillon felt slightly awkward. “No.”
He purposely came to deliver the gift one day in advance because he did not receive the wedding
invitation card.
He did not see Adina after he went to the Winters family‘s mansion, so he went to the Xavier family’s
mansion instead.
“This is a wedding gift that I prepared for Ms. Daugherty.” Dillon took out a small box from his shirt
pocket before he lifted the lid. “This emerald green jadeite necklace really compliments you, Ms.
Daugherty. I hope you‘ll accept it.”
Adina looked at the necklace.
It was the item that Dillon had wanted to give to her at the wedding gown shop the other day. It was a
piece of jewelry that her mother used to wear.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Oh, why does this necklace look a little familiar?” Mdm. Xavier frowned before she immediately
chuckled. “I‘m old, and I‘ve seen too many things, so I find everything familiar. Mr. Jones, please don‘t
mind me.”
Dillon smiled and spoke like a gentleman. “All jadeite pieces are similar in appearance, so it‘s normal
that you find them familiar.”
After he spoke, he looked at Adina again, and his black eyes were filled with faint expectation.
Adina walked over, pursed her lips, and said, “Thank you for your gift, Mr. Jones.”
Dillon was delighted. He immediately handed the piece of jewelry to her as if he was afraid that she
would go back on her word. He got up and said, “I still have something to do, so I can‘t stay much
longer. I‘ll see you around.”
After he said that, he pushed his chair back and walked out.
Adina was speechless.
She had not handed the wedding invitation to him. Why was he leaving so quickly?
Mdm. Xavier leaned forward. “The necklace looks a bit old and doesn‘t seem to be of much value. Why
would a Jones family member intentionally deliver this to you?”
“What else could it be? He must still like you!” Sophia sashayed in. She scoffed and said, “I truly don‘t
understand why men like you regardless of whether they‘re young or old. You look beautiful, but your
character‘s really unpleasant. If those men knew who you were, they would run as far as possible!”
Adina closed the box with a loud thud before she faked a smile and said, “It looks like you realize that
I‘m bad–tempered, Sophia.”
Sophia sneered and said, “You‘re even accepting a gift from an old man the day before your wedding.
You see, if Duke Winters knows about this, would he still want to marry you?”
“Shut up!” Mdm. Xavier glared at her. “If you can‘t say anything nice, go back to the Gardner family!”
“Grandma, Sophia may not be able to go back to the Gardner family anymore.” Adina dropped the
necklace into her pocket with a faint smile and said, “I heard that Mr. Gardner brought a mistress home,
and the Gardner family members are protecting
her.”
“What?” Mdm. Xavier was in disbelief. “Sophia, explain this to me. What’s going on?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSophia‘s bold front instantly crumbled after Mdm. Xavier questioned her. :
She covered her face and cried all of a sudden. “How would I know what happened ? He just took that
woman home out of nowhere. What else can I do?”
No matter how immature Sophia was, she was still Mdm. Xavier‘s granddaughter. Mdm. Xavier sat on
the couch and angrily said, “Does the Gardner family think that there‘s no one else in the Xavier family?
Good! Very good!”
Adina pursed her lips. She should not have exposed the Gardner family just to attack Sophia.
The end result of pissing her grandma off was not worth it.
Adina walked over, supported Mdm. Xavier by the arm, and softly said, “Grandma , Uncle Richard and
Aunt Morganna will handle it. Please don‘t worry about it. Let me take you upstairs so that you can
rest.”
Mdm. Xavier was silent but her face was sullen as she allowed Adina to support her upstairs.
Sophia covered her face and cried out loud.
Her husband had started to have affairs with women outside just four years into their marriage. She
had been holding herself back because she loved that man too much.
However, that man was pushing the boundaries further and further. She had thought of divorcing him,
but she was not willing to give her position to that mistress! The sky was dark that night.
