Chapter 178
Jasmine and Albert had already left the room by the time Albert was done talking.
“What, I have an assistant too?” Wilbur asked, but his question went unanswered.
He stared at the closed door in silence.
He had surveyed with his spirit energy earlier and sensed a powerful spirit energy within Jasmine. She
was pretty much on the same level as Wilbur and was definitely an elite cultivator.
However, he did not seem to detect anything in Albert. There was not an ounce of spirit energy, which
made him seem like a mortal.
However, there was no way he could have gotten the position he was in if he did not have any powers,
and he had admitted
himself that he did have them.
Wilbur had the urge to tap into Albert’s conscience several times, wanting to get some information

He managed to hold himself back in the end. Who knew what that old man could be hiding? Moreover,
Wilbur might end up humiliating himself or even risking his life. That would be bad.
Wilbur scoffed, then picked up the phone he had just been given and fiddled around with it.
“So, you think you know all my secrets? I’m sure you don’t know that I have the Dragon God’s grace
too.”
Wilbur set a password on his new phone before opening the contacts list.
There were only two contacts in there. One of them was Beverly Torres, Wilbur’s personal handler, and
the other was Jasmine Veila, the assistant to the head of the department.
Wilbur stared at Jasmine’s name for a while before eventually cracking up into sly laughter.
He remembered reading a rather popular when he was a teenager. The female lead in the
was named Jasmine Veila, and she was everyone’s fictional crush back then. What a coincidence.
Wilbur thought of Ryder after that..
This man was extremely powerful as well. The problem was that he was a bit of a stickler for rules, and
Wilbur had a feeling the two of them would not really get along.
Shaking his head, Wilbur made a call to Beverly.
A brief pause later, a sweet voice rang through the phone.
“Hello, Deacon Wilbur Penn. I’m your personal handler, Beverly Torrez. It’s an honor to be serving you.”
Beverly had a lovely voice, but Wilbur could not be too sure if the owner of this voice was actually some
burly blake or not. Such cases happen all the time.
He was, of course, thinking of the worst possible case scenario. Whatever his handler actually looked
like had nothing to do with him.
“Hello, Beverly. I’m Wilbur, and I hope we can work well together.”
“Same here! I’m honestly a linke nervous to be spealding to you for the first time. Please be patient with
me.”
Wilbur jumped at Beverly’s suggestive tone, hurrying to say, “it’s alright! I was just clocking in. I’ll be

“Alright, Deacon Penn. Have a nice day.”
Wilbur hung up the call, barking out a laugh. He had a team under him now, and what a team it was.
This was the stuff regular people could only dream of, but Wilbur was not the slightest bit happy about
H.
He was not sure if this would make him any new enemies in the future. Who knew what these other
cultivators were like, what kind of high–risk missions he might get?

Surely such power would come with a reasonable amount of responsibility.
“Sigh!” Wilbur huffed exasperatedly. He felt like his fate was bobbing about in a vast ocean, with
countless waves tossing lim around mercilessly, leaving him with no way out.
Just then, his phone rang with a call. Seeing that it was Earon, he answered it.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing, bro. I just wanted to know where you’re at. Let’s have some fun.”
Wilbur gave it some thought. “There’s going to be a banquet tonight. Do you want to go?
