281 Go back to how things used to be
Sitting on top of the tallest stone wall, Kairen swung his foot while watching the people fight. He had caused most of the conflict. He had a weird feeling, yet he didn’t feel that guilty. Those Philomns guys deserved it while the Bordkly’s side were their enemies who had attacked their land.
‘I’m dizzy...’
He closed his eyes and grabbed the wall with both hands. He was still injured, yet he had moved so much since morning. His wounds ached and his insides felt as if they were on fire.
‘Why haven’t I gotten better though...’
He thought it was strange. When he was in the hospital, the doctor said that his wounds healed faster than normal. He thought he would get well soon again, but he hadn’t gotten any better yet.
BOMMMMM
The ground shook, and so did the walls.
“Mmm...”
Kairen suppressed a groan and closed his eyes for a moment due to dizziness, then turned his head around to look at his brother who kept shaking the ground.
.....
BOMMMM
There was a loud sound from another side and he could see a building crumbling in the distance, where his friends were fighting the soldiers.
‘Should I also do something?’
Kairen, as the one who had created this mess, didn’t feel good sitting on a wall and watching people fight. Shouldn’t he at least go have a conversation with his team leader or see how Asa and Claire were handling the situation?
He also wanted to help somehow, but it wasn’t like he could move or fight in this state. Using this one shield that protected him from the attacks aimed at him, and even just sitting down like this, was making him feel sick enough he thought he might faint if things dragged on a little bit longer.
“Huh?”
It was then that he realized something. He saw two figures walking out from the dust and approaching the walls. He was quite far away from them but he could still recognize who they were. They were his two friends, who were now running towards the closest wall.
TAP TAP TAP
Serria was the first. She jumped on the destroyed watchtower, then jumped on the shortest and closest wall. Running forward a little bit longer, she jumped up again, dug her sword into one of the walls, did a back flip in the air, and stepped on her sword before jumping up again and grabbing the edge of another wall.
Reyan was going after her. Jumping from one wall to another, he too jumped on Serria’s sword only to kick the wall and shoot his body towards where Serria was dangling from while pulling the sword out from the wall.
“Are you out of your mind? Who the hell would leave their sword on a wall in the middle of a battle?”
Reyan snorted while grabbing Serria’s extended hand. He moved his body and jumped on the edge of the wall before pulling Serria up as well.
“I left it there because I knew you would bring it back for me!”
Serria was the one who was snorting now.

Reyan pushed the sword to Serria’s chest and started running again. Serria was behind him.
‘What are those two doing?’
Kairen stared at the two while frowning. They were jumping on the walls one by one and getting close to him at a fast pace.
‘Are they going to drag me down?’
Kairen gulped. He hadn’t thought about this. He was planning on going down with his brother as they were supposed to be playing the role of ‘Long lost brothers who have found each other after so many events’. Plus, he didn’t think Aaron would be happy about his two friends approaching him. He had been nagging him the whole time about how he should be more careful when making friends for the past few hours. Why was he like this these days? Kairen had never seen him be so envious of someone before, but now he seemed to be jealous of every single person who was even a little bit close to Kairen.
Was it because Kairen was gone for ten years- no, actually 17 years?
Still, that didn’t make sense! Aaron must’ve been happy that his little annoying brother who had always been a burden to him was finally gone for good!
“Sigh!”
Kairen sighed and peeked at his brother. Reyan and Serria were almost reaching Kairen, they were only a few steps away from him. Aaron stopped fighting, or actually testing different ways to kill people, and turned to look up at Kairen with a frown.
‘Don’t! Please don’t kill my friends!’
Kairen tried to mouth those words to Aaron, but he wasn’t sure if he succeeded or not.
BOMMMMMM
The earth shook one again, stronger than the other times.
“Ack!”
Slipper her feat, Serria was about to fall to the ground when he was grabbed from the collar by Reyan and pulled up.
“Gah! What the hell!”
She clicked her tongue and glared at Aaron who was staring at them as if he wanted to shoot them to death.
“Mmm...”
Kairen placed his hand on his forehead and closed his eyes again.
‘Dear brother can you please stop shaking the ground I might really fall down or faint at this rate.’
He wanted to call his brother and tell him those words, but his phone was broken so he couldn’t do so.
“Kairen!”
“Oy!”
Tap
Upon sensing two hands pulling him back, Kairen opened his eyes only to see Serria’s face in front of himself, staring right into his eyes while grabbing his arms.
“....”
“....”
What?
“Why are you sitting there? You were about to fall.”
‘Oh? So that was it.’
He might”ve leaned forward a little bit as he was dizzy so he didn’t notice it. He was sure that Aaron wouldn’t let him fall down and would catch him using his freaking soil, but he was still thankful that these two had prevented the fall.
“Move back a little bit!”
Kairen felt a force pulling him backward.
“OWWW!”
And a sharp, stinging pain throughout his body at the same time.
“W-what?”
Reyan, who was the one who pulled him back by grabbing his shoulder, was taken aback by Kairen’s sudden scream and let go of his grasp.
“Gah! That hurt- Gasp!”
Kairen, quite literally, threw himself on the thick wall while growling in pain. Reyan had just touched the wound on his shoulder. The pain that had subsided down due to pain killers was back again.
“W-what? What’s wrong? Kairen?”
“Hey, what did you do?”
Reyan knelt down on the ground while Serria was shaking Kairen’s body.
“Ack- Don’t!”
Kairen shouted at Serria, making her flinch and take back her hand.
“Huff...”
‘Damn it!’
This was unexpected.
“Kairen are you fine?”
“Were you injured? I didn’t know that. Hey, say something!”
Kairen looked at the concerned faces of his two friends through his blurry vision. He felt sorry for them. They had come all the way here and tried to help him only for Kairen to scream at them.
“Huff...”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmTaking a few deep breaths and doing his best to ignore the pain, Kairen slowly raised his body again.
‘Brother I’m sorry please come take me home.’
He needed rest!
“D-don’t!”
Serria grabbed his arms and slowly pulled him up while Reyan supported him, both doing these things with so much care, wary that they might hurt Kairen again.
“Why did you come here?”
.....
Kairen uttered with a low voice while massaging his aching shoulder.
“Uh? We came to talk but... Are you fine? I just realized that you look so pale...”
Serria had a rarely seen worried expression. Kairen couldn’t see Reyan as he was sitting behind him but he was sure that Reyan too had a similar expression.
“Yeah.”
“Do you need any potions?”
“No.”
“Should I bring Asa?”
Bring that poor girl all the way up here?
“No!”
Kairen shook his head and changed the subject.
“What did you want to talk about?”
Serria seemed hesitant to answer, so Reyan was the one who talked this time.
“About this situation? What is going on?”
“Hmmm...”
Kairen opened and closed his eyes a few times to see if his vision was back to normal again, but nope, it was still blurry. Giving up on that, he moved his body to sit on his own again, making Reyan move and sit beside Serria.
‘How am I supposed to explain things though? Should I tell them everything?’
He had prepared a show, but he was sure he needed to explain things to these two even if this whole thing ended up being a success. After regaining his memories and feelings of the past, he could no longer ignore these two and hide too many things from them. He had just realized how his friends’ behaviors has changed after he lost his memories, specially Serria who had become too annoying to be tolerable. He wanted them to be back to how they used to be, and for that, he needed to go back to how he used to treat them. He had to trust them like before.
“It’s-”
Kairen opened his mouth to explain, but he didn’t manage to say more than only the first word.
BBBBBOMMMMMM
It was because a loud explosion interrupted him.
