Chapter 962 I'll Only Listen to You
Huston was stunned. With one hand on the car door and the other on the car frame, he said, "Get out of the car."
Evelyn was initially calm, but upon hearing his return, her eyes welled up with tears. She pretended not to hear
anything, remaining completely still.
Just as Huston was about to be angered by her stubbornness, he caught a glimpse of her trembling shoulders. His
dark pupils contracted, and his sexy Adam's apple bobbed up and down. He was no longer as cold and hard as
before when he spoke again. "Evelyn, get out of the car and come home with me."
"I'm not going back." Evelyn held back her trembling voice like a child who was angry.
Her sobbing voice completely extinguished Huston's anger, leaving only a helpless sigh behind. "Why not go home?"

Huston was speechless.
This sentence really stunned him. He frowned and said, "When did I say I didn't want you anymore?"
He wished to be with her every day. When did he start having this thought? Why didn't he know it?
Evelyn's next sentence solved all his doubts.
"You're going to take over that case. You're abandoning me..."
In the dim night, Huston's gaze darkened as he watched her drunken state, her deliberate avoidance of looking at
him. Was it all because of that case?
A corner of his heart seemed touched as a tingling sensation spread throughout his body. No matter how great his
anger or rage, he couldn't stay mad as long as she shed a tear.
He fell into her hands. Besides caring for and protecting her, what else could he do?
He felt that the heavens truly sent Evelyn to torment him. She always found a way to soften his heart, even though
she was the one who got drunk. He couldn't help but feel it was his fault.
Sighing silently, Huston bent his knees and squatted down. His tone was no longer as domineering as before. "It's
not that I abandon you. For me, you're the most important."
"You're lying. For you, work is the most important thing." The more Evelyn spoke, the more pitiful she felt. She didn't
care about whether she was embarrassed or not. She said it out loud, mixed with some unreasonableness, "I don't
want you to take this case, and you accuse me of lacking the integrity and responsibility of a legal professional. You
make me sound like a bad person. I'm just worried about you. Is it wrong for me to be a little selfish? I don't want
you to leave me again. I'm scared..."

Though everything from the past had already passed, the experiences and the accompanying feelings linger on.
She lacked a sense of security, especially when it came to Huston. It was an extreme lack.
After Evelyn finished speaking, a gentle force fell upon her back, and a warm palm traced from the back of her
neck down to her spine. It carried an unnamed power and warmth, slowly permeating into her body.
"I won't leave you. I promise you that I will stay. Work will always be just work for me. You are the only one I cannot
afford to lose in this world." Huston softened his voice, speaking each word to her as if they were notes played by
the night breeze, resonating deeply in her heart.
Evelyn finally raised her head to look at him. Her face was covered with tears. She was a mother at such an age but
was still a woman who longed to be loved.
"Huston, it's not that I don't want you to take this case..."
Before she could finish, Huston suddenly interrupted her. "I won't take it, okay?"
Evelyn looked deeply into his dark eyes and couldn't speak for a moment.
"I won't do anything you don't like. I'll only listen to you."
