Chapter 955 I'll Cook Myself
The news of Huston's return quickly spread throughout the lawyer's world. There were all kinds of voices. Some
said he was making a comeback, while others claimed he had become unfamiliar with the legal world and could
never regain his previous status.
In any case, Huston's return significantly impacted the legal community and its prominent figures. They were both
wary and eagerly awaiting the unfolding of events. Several media outlets approached the HM Law Office, seeking
an interview, even if it meant concealing his identity, but Huston politely declined all of them.
At first, Evelyn was afraid that these voices would affect Huston. It had become a subconscious habit after worrying
about him for such a long time. So one day, after finishing a discussion with a franchisee, Evelyn returned home
early. She bought a lot of ingredients and prepared to cook a meal to reward him.

washing tomatoes.
"Yes, don't worry about it. I'll call you if I need anything."
Four delicious dishes were beautifully presented on the dining table in less than two hours. The Braised Beef had a
bright color that instantly whetted the appetite. The sweet and sour soup with tender stewed beef exuded a
delightful aroma. The Poached Fish with Light Broth was garnished with two slices of lemon, adding a refreshing
touch. Huston especially enjoyed the mild flavor. And there was also a dish of Lamb Chops, which was Lucas's
favorite. Finally, she prepared Roasted Cauliflower with a light soy sauce and vinegar dressing.
As soon as the food was served, Huston entered the villa as if he had made a plan.
He was still holding his briefcase in his hand. Seeing Evelyn busy in the kitchen, his son had already clung to him
before he could even ask a question. He crouched down, hugged his son, and went upstairs.
Looking at the two of them go upstairs, Evelyn felt neglected for the first time. She finally understood why Huston
had been jealous of their son. Her mood was really... subtle?
Less than ten minutes later, they changed into casual home clothes before returning downstairs. Huston went to
the kitchen, watching the busy woman wearing an apron. He walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist,
kissing her forehead. "Why did you personally cook today?" he asked.
Huston remembered that Evelyn had been very busy lately, coming home late several times, sometimes after 8
p.m. He had just returned to the HM Law Office and had a lot of things to sort out, occasional social engagements
as well. They had less than three weekly opportunities to sit down together for
dinner.
"I came back early today and bought some ingredients. Everything is ready."
The two of them walked to the dining room together and sat down. Lucas waited obediently for them to arrive
before eating.

Evelyn's culinary skills had never declined. Though it was home-cooked food, it suited Huston's taste very well.
Despite being someone who usually ate sparingly during dinner, he had two bowls of rice.
After dinner, Lucas went upstairs to do his homework while Huston went to the study on the third floor to continue
his work. Evelyn sat alone in the living room. After a busy day, she suddenly had nothing to do and didn't care about
what was playing on TV. At nine o'clock, she read Lucas a story and coaxed him to sleep.
After finishing everything, Evelyn went to the bathroom and bathed, allowing the lavender fragrance to disperse the
lingering smell of cooking. When she came out of the bathroom, it was already almost ten o'clock, and the man in
the study hadn't left.
Why did it take so long?
Evelyn frowned and lay at the head of the bed, occasionally looking at the clock on the wall. Finally, she couldn't sit
still and heated a glass of hot milk on the third floor.
Evelyn knocked on the door before entering. Huston was sitting behind his desk and staring at the computer screen
with a serious expression. He didn't even spare her a glance when she came in.
