Chapter 1115 I Apologize to You
Lucas curled his lips slightly, clearly not happy, "Did you take me out before? I almost forgot."
Huston's grip on the steering wheel tightened; he blamed himself for not spending enough time with his child.
No matter how jealous he felt, it was all his fault, and he couldn't blame anyone else.
He had made promises too many times, only to have them broken by unexpected events. Now, as a father, he
didn't dare to make any more empty promises. He silently decided to love and protect his child more than ever
from now on.
Evelyn listened to the previous conversation between father and son and looked at the innocent face. Unable to
bear seeing him upset, she spoke up for him, "Lucas, it was because of your mom this time that we were delayed.
Your dad was taking care of me, but he really misses you."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLucas had always been obedient and understanding, but this long separation had left a little shadow in his heart,
"Mom, you promised you wouldn't leave me alone."
Having grown up with Evelyn since childhood, he could throw tantrums in front of Huston but could only feel wrong
in front of her.
Evelyn couldn't remember what she had told him before; her memory loss had erased all information about this
child. However, looking into his pitiful eyes softened her heart, "I'm sorry, Lucas. It's mom's fault."
When she woke up and learned about having this child, she was resistant and scared. At that time, she even
thought about ignoring the child until she regained her memories.
But now, with him right in front of her, she felt guilty for ever having such thoughts.
Perhaps out of maternal instinct, she couldn't abandon this child, nor could she bear to see him sad. Any emotion
on his face easily touched her heart.
On the way to the dining hall, Evelyn continued to comfort Lucas. Lucas went from sulking to feeling better when
they got off the car.
In the end, Huston chose a high-end French restaurant for the meal. They had been back for three days, and many
eyes were watching them. Anything captured on camera could become front-page news. He had grown used to it,
but he wouldn't let his family be exposed to the media storm.
This restaurant had hosted many leaders, and its privacy and service were top-notch, which put his mind at ease.
After sitting down in the private room, he looked out of the window at the clouds dyed red by the setting sun, and
his heart finally lit up a little.
After ordering their meals, Huston also requested a caramel pudding, Lucas's favorite. Due to health concerns, he
hadn't indulged in it much before, but this time, he made an exception to please Lucas.
"Did Bert take you on a trip? Where did he take you?" During the meal, Huston couldn't help asking.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLucas answered honestly, "To Quartz City."
Quartz City wasn't too far from Jewel City; it was a city surrounded by the sea on three sides, with a great
environment suitable for relaxation and travel.
"How many days have you been there? Is it fun?"
"Two days. Mr. Harper took me to eat seafood at a big stall and strolled by the seaside. We also went on a huge
Ferris wheel. Oh, and Ms. Graves! She went with us too!"
"Ms. Graves?" Hearing this unfamiliar name, Huston frowned, "Who is it?"
"She's a friend of Mr. Harper's. She was exceptionally nice to me, bought me little gifts, and took care of me like a
mother," Lucas couldn't stop smiling when he talked about Alivia. Children's hearts were innocent, and they could
easily tell who treated them well and who didn't, just by their expressions.
However...
Huston raised an eyebrow, curious about the woman who could appear by Bert's side and what her background
was.
