Chapter 1103 I Will Compensate You
One night of indulgence and the first thing he did in the morning was to put on his pants and leave. If it weren't for
the scene unfolding before her eyes, Alivia could never have imagined that such a thing would happen to her.
Alivia stared at his back, clearly stiff, but luckily, he finally turned around and spoke in a reserved tone.
"The wine I drank last night was drugged," A succinct explanation that was neither explanatory nor an excuse, more
like a matter-of-fact statement.
Alivia couldn't help but smile soundlessly, suppressing the warm pain rising in her eyes. Like a shattered porcelain
doll, she softly asked him, "So what?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBert's face remained tense as he looked at her exposed shoulders and collarbone, adorned with numerous dark red
marks—the ambiguous traces seemed to be taunting him.
"Look, you are nothing special. You can sleep with another woman even if she wasn't Evelyn."
"What affection? What restraint? It's just what you think it is."
He wasn't looking down on her, nor did he dislike her. It was himself he disliked. He had always firmly believed in his
feelings for Evelyn, but all of it was shattered by the frenzy of last night.
After persisting for so many years, he had subverted himself. This feeling made him instinctively resist.
So, when faced with her pair of eyes filled with grievances, he said, "I will compensate you."
Compensation.
Hearing these words felt like being slapped twice in the face. She would have preferred him to say last night was a
misunderstanding, or that he was out of control. Only she had misinterpreted things. But these two words were
simply ironic.
What did he take her for? A professional? Did she do such a thing just to ask for compensation?
Alivia felt extremely embarrassed, her fingers clenched tightly, and her nails sank into her flesh without her
noticing. Her emotions were stretched to the limit, and a surge of anger raged within her.
Her round toes touched the soft carpet on the floor as she stood up straight. She walked up to him, resembling a
newborn baby, vulnerable and brave at the same time, completely naked, her fair and delicate skin glaringly
apparent.
All over her body were imprints left by him, some even bruised. Bert took a deep breath, turned his face away, and
his voice sounded distant and stiff, "Put on your clothes."

eyes and said, "Bert, what happened last night was consensual. I don't regret it. Even though you see me as
worthless, it was my first time, and I wouldn't be with just anyone. I'm with you because..."
Speaking of this, she paused slightly. After a few seconds, she plucked up the courage to confess her love, "I like
you."
Her voice was light, almost ethereal, but those four words landed in his ears, causing his heart to skip a beat.
It wasn't the first time a woman had said she liked him. Countless times, the opposite sex had showered him with
sweet words, but they never stirred even the slightest emotion within him. Yet, looking at the girl in front of him,
fragile to the extreme yet so brave to confess her liking, for that moment, he was boiling.
His blood temperature rose, coursing through his limbs, burning him up entirely.
Bert turned his head, avoiding her touch. If this continued, he wouldn't be able to breathe.
