Chapter 651 Beloved Ones by Each Other’s Side
Evelyn didn’t look back. She looked at the receding street view outside the window, and her bittersweet
emotions were somewhat eased by those comforting hands. She glanced at the faint reflection of the
man on the windowpane, which wasn’t very clear. He didn’t look at her, instead, he kept his gaze fixed
ahead. But he comforted her silently.
Evelyn clenched her hands tightly and warned herself not to
think too much about it.
Forty minutes later, the car stopped in front of Grace’s private
apartment.
After the long journey, Lucas had already dozed off. Evelyn
woke him up softly, took the child’s hand, and got out of the car. Turning to block the car door, she

come up. I’m worried that Grace might feel uneasy.”
She looked as if she was afraid that he would follow her.
He didn’t intend to do that at first, but her emphasis now
bothered him. “Go ahead.”
Evelyn led her child into the elevator. The doors closed, and they watched as the numbers climbed up
one by one. It wasn’t until they reached the thirteenth floor that the man withdrew his gaze. He slightly
lowered his eyelids, and his long lashes cast a shadow on his eyelids. “Let’s go, back to the villa.”
Evelyn’s heart soared along with the ascending numbers in the elevator. She felt anxious and uneasy,
but more than anything, she felt nervous and excited. It had been five years since they last met, and
she couldn’t contain the exhilaration in her heart.
“Ding—”
The elevator stopped on the thirteenth floor, and as the doors opened, Evelyn stepped out. Her heart
was pounding wildly, and she walked up to the door based on her memory, raising her hand and
lowering it, repeating the motion several times but lacking the courage to knock.
“Mom?” Lucas raised his little head and looked at her in
confusion, not knowing what she was doing.
Evelyn took a deep breath. Just as she was about to knock on the door, it opened from the inside.
The gap between the doors became wider and wider. Evelyn

hold back, but
her eyes seemed to have a mind of their own, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
She covered her mouth with her hand, suppressing the sob that was about to burst out.
“Evelyn…” Grace looked at the person in front of her in a daze. For a moment, she even thought she

“Grace…” Evelyn was so moved that she couldn’t control herself at all. Tears blurred her vision, but she
felt that the person in front of her was extremely clear. She remembered her appearance and didn’t
forget it at all. Her appearance had long been engraved in her mind.
“It’s really you, it’s really… You little rascal, why did you come back so late? I thought I would never see
you again in my life, sob…” Grace hugged her tightly, afraid that she might disappear in the next
second.
Evelyn and Grace had known each other for the longest time, from their student days to their
professional lives. They remembered every moment they spent together. They were friends, but their
bond went beyond friendship; they were like family to each other.
Over the years, Evelyn had learned to manage her emotions, to stay calm and independent. But in the
face of this warm embrace, everything crumbled in an instant.
It was at this moment that Evelyn realized how much she had longed for this moment to come.
