For the inhabitants of this world, Fate was something significant, something that could change their lives and the only thing that could save them from Chaos.
But, was this the case? Are the common people right in thinking that Fate is pure goodness trying to make their lives better?
"Fuck... This is really happening, right?" Zayne muttered with trembling eyes as he looked out over the village, engulfed in blue flames.
A few thoughts ran through Zayne's mind, deep inside, he already understood what was going on, but he didn't want to accept it.
"Mrs. Selania...! What are you doing?!" The man with the white eyes exclaimed as he took a few steps back. The second Knight had a similar reaction, he didn't expect Selania would do something like this at all.
"Isn't it obvious? We don't have enough power to defeat the final monster in Tier Three Chaos Hearth, so I decided to sacrifice these inhabitants for it." Selania replied coldly, turning toward the village.
When she used the Fate Coin, a protective barrier appeared, so the demon needed some time to get back into the fight.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe blue energy devoured the villagers as soon as it touched them, their eyes flashed with light, their veins swelled, then in seconds, they turned into something similar to mummies, stripped of all their vital powers. All their energy gathered in three blue spheres, floating in the air.
"What... Wasn't there any other way...? As far as I know, the Fate Coin contains a lot of energy..." The blue-eyed man muttered with a shiver.
Selania frowned as she crossed her arms over her chest, "I don't have time for this shit! The barrier won't last long! I didn't think you two were such naive idiots... Our main goal is to get rid of Chaos, nothing else matters!"
The knights gulped, they didn't know what they had to do. Selania surpassed them in status, however, their worldview was completely different, now Selania was practically a villain to them or a traitor to what they had fought all their lives for.
"Fine... We can't change anything anymore anyway, the past is forever in the past..." The man with white eyes muttered with a complicated expression, "However, once we have dealt with this demon, it will be your turn. You will suffer the appropriate punishment for what you have done!"
"Agreed." The blue-eyed man said confidently, clutching his sword tightly with a cold stare.
Selania was silent, she just stared at them while her gaze changed. At first, she saw them as ordinary allies, but now, she looked at them as if they were insects.
"Well... Since you don't understand anything about this world and are going to stop me from doing my job, I simply have no other choice..." Selania whispered before waving her hand.
Whooooooooooooosh.
Three spheres merged into one, as it headed toward Selania. In the next moment, she single-handedly absorbed all the energy and became much stronger.
"Agh... I can definitely beat this monster now, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you." Selania used another Fate Coin, and blue seals appeared over all the Knights.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Azure chains gripped everyone, entering their minds and forcing them to submit to Selania's will. The Fate Coin had an almost infinite variety of uses, everything depended only on the individual.
"No! What are you doing to us!" The white-eyed man exclaimed, trying to resist, but he didn't stand a chance against someone with such a powerful Fate Force.
"It's no big deal. I'm just turning you into someone who will be of use to me. It's too wasteful to kill you, but given your position, I can't let you go, so it's easier to control you." Selania said calmly as if it were obvious, and it caused the Knights true horror.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
"Roooooooaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr!!!" The demon roared furiously, tearing the barrier apart with its fiery claws.
"Well, it's time to stop talking. I need to get the job done, purely, quickly, and without unwanted witnesses. Nothing is more important than destroying Chaos." Selania was absolutely certain in her words as she stepped forward.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith the energy she got, with the power she took from a dozen inhabitants and the help of the Knights, she quickly crushed the demon.
She moved swiftly, bringing her sword down on a monster that just didn't have time to adapt to Selania's new might.
"Be gone, brat of Chaos." Selania said coldly, swinging her sword and slicing the demon in two.
Selania took a deep breath, knocked the blood off her sword, and looked up. Chaos Hearth was slowly disappearing, and it brought a slight smile to her face. She may have done terrible things to the villagers as well as the knights, but it was all collateral damage to her.
The only thing that mattered to Selania was to successfully complete the mission and expel the chaos, ways as well as the number of victims didn't matter, only the result.
"Agh, the job is done. Now I can rest, but first I have to think about what to do with you..." Selania muttered, looking at the knights. A blue energy was floating around them, slowly transforming into strange armor, as if made of stone.
Zayne, who was watching this was speechless. What Selania did was completely different from the way Roland and the others acted, it was a whole other side of this world.
'Shit... Maybe it's wrong, but even Enar didn't go that way, though he was an Apostle.' Zayne said to himself.
After a while Selania was about to leave, but as soon as she took a few steps she stopped, and her whole body was covered with goosebumps. She turned around abruptly, as her eyes went wide.
"Who are you...? Where did you come from...?" Selania uttered with a dazed expression looking at the silhouette heading toward her. It appeared as if from nowhere, only the moonlight illuminated it.
The silhouette had a long dark coat, a hat, and blue eyes. In his hand was a regular, black umbrella. A strange aura emanated from the silhouette, and with each step he took, the tension increased as much as the fear in Selania's heart.
"You know who I am, and you haven't lived up to our expectations." Gael said calmly, slightly adjusting his hat.
