"Alright," Gorrum pulled the bowl into the Void Storage. It closed in the space to his right and he set his hands on the table. "We're done. You now know your Energy Sensories."
"Touch and Sight." Lily replied. Gorrum nodded as Jyu'so and Keng watched. "What did you get, Keng?" She turned to look at him. He was still picking at his ears, trying to get the deafening scream of the mandrake out of his head.
"Hearing, Touch, Sight, and Taste." Keng answered. "In order of best to worst."
"Wow, you have a lot." Lily looked over at Gorrum. "Are we supposed to have that many?"
"Keng's a very rare sensor." Gorrum told her. "Having one or two is most common. Touch is a very common thing to have. Most people usually have touch. It's rare for people to have one sense and that sense being something other than touch."
"Ah, so how do we go about training this?" Lily asked. She had a thirst for learning that Gorrum and Jyu'so noticed right away. She asked many questions in-between tests. They had given her a run-down of 'what energy sensing meant for a specified sense.'
"We're here to train Keng on Sight. Both of you don't have great Sight sense, so we will work on strengthening that sense first." Gorrum told her. "We'll start tomorrow morning."
"What will we be doing, exactly?" Lily asked. "Will I have time to clean up the Tomb?" Keng looked over at her.
'She sounds like she has somewhere else to be.' Keng thought.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Is something up?" Keng asked.
"Oh, no." Lily shook her head. "It's just that…" She trailed off. She looked down at her hands. She needed to go back to her family and she didn't know how to say that to the three older Foxes. "It's just that my brother comes home in a month and a half. I have to return to the village so I can help my mom and dad. All of my brothers are coming back to celebrate my oldest brother's return to the region."
"Your older brother's returning from another region?" Keng asked. Lily nodded.
"It's a tradition to welcome a family member back to the village after they've gone on an expedition. Y'see, my older brother, Isaac… He's…"
"Ah, you're Isaac Wang's youngest sister." Gorrum interjected.
"Huh?" Lily looked at Gorrum. "You know Isaac?"
"Of course! He is stationed where I am at. I've worked with him. He's a good sport. That's why you're so curious about things. You and him thirst to learn." Gorrum told her. Lily felt more at ease. Someone knew about her brother and that made her feel less uncomfortable.
"Mmm, I've met Isaac once. He came to my village to ask about a creature that resides in the area I watch." Jyu'so added. "That one's a bright one. Always going above and beyond to learn."
"Mmm, yeah…" Lily nodded. The two oldest Fox Spirits knew about her brother. They know he was one of the rare half-Fox, half-humans who got their tails. He could attain the evolution path that all the Fox Spirits got except the human hybrids. She envied his tails and wish she had it.
Keng noticed her mood switching back to being sad and reserved. He hadn't known Lily for long. She had just helped them in the battle and knew the Fox Spirits treated her differently because she was a human hybrid. Lee Seng had stuck up for her when they, not so silently, didn't want her to heal them.
"Do not fret, young one." Jyu'so spoke up. "Do not compare your path to your older brother's. As you shan't compare yourself to anyone else, including Keng. The path to evolution may be rare for you as a human-Fox Spirit hybrid, but it doesn't mean one's ability to do so chooses your fate. You're chosen by two gods, not just one."
"How did you…" Lily question slowed to a stop.
"I'm quite observant, my dear." Jyu'so smiled. "You radiate two energies. The gods will love everyone including you and your siblings. They will love everyone and favor them because they know each and every one of us have a path we walk. Whether our time is limited or our time is infinite. Whether death in sleep or death in battle, we all walk a path. Do not be ashamed by who you are, my dear. Chosen by two gods and a Savior is a remarkable feat.
"Even I have heard tales about the Pink haired musician who protected Fox Spirits of many tails. You're capable at such a young age. Oh, how I remember my young days. Pranks, tricks and loads of laughing." Jyu'so chuckled.
"You still do all of that, Elder." Gorrum told him. Jyu'so nodded and shifted in his seat.
"Do not worry, Lily Wang." Lily felt Elder Jyu'so's eyes peering into her. There was some sort of energy that resonated in those eyes. It made her… It made her feel strong. "Your path will be a great one. I know it."
"How, Elder? How can you be so sure? You aren't a Seer. How can you be so sure?" Lily asked.
"Seer?" Keng whispered.
"One who see's the hidden truth in history. In people." Jyu'so replied. "Just like your Destiny that's unraveling in front of you as we speak, the Pink one has her own Destiny to follow. Fate has a strange way of doing things, so do not give in so easily. Be who you want to be and follow the path. Who knows who you'll meet along the way?"
Lily nodded after taking all of it in. She had to be patient about the process. Sure, she was treated differently because she was a human-Fox Spirit hybrid but she was also chosen by two gods she adored. Tear'a and Rox'su had chosen her, specifically. Rox'su had played with her when she entered the forest for the first time. He had protected her while they played.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe had brought her to Tear'a and she got to listen to her music. A small smile appeared on her face and she nodded, reassuring herself that she didn't know what to expect now, but she would continue on the path she chose.
"Rox'su and Tear'a… Thank you." She gave a small prayer. She looked up at the three older Foxes and nodded at them. "I understand, Elder. Thank you for your wisdom. I'm not entirely sure of who I'm to become, but I will try my best to be me because Rox'su and Tear'a chose me."
"That you should." Jyu'so smiled. "Now, enough talk about this. We should give an overview of what to except for the next month, month and a half. We don't need the Pink one to miss her older brother's return, no?"
"No, sir." Gorrum shook his head. Keng shook his head, lost in the sudden shift. "For the next month and a half we shall test your Sight by using hunting and scavenging as the main method for strengthening your Sight. We'll start with Energy manipulation excersies to boost the control of your energy and work on keeping Energy going to your eyes, for now."
"Are you aware of Energy manipulation, dear?" Jyu'so asked Lily.
"Yes, I am." Lily nodded. "Dad told me it was the first thing anyone should learn if they wish to manipulate magic one day."
"Good." Gorrum nodded. "We'll do that and strengthen your Energy while also trying to put some of that Energy to your eyes. Once you can hold it there without even thinking about it, we'll start our hunts. Any questions, you two?"
"More manipulation training?" Keng sighed. "I barely passed that." He lowered his head as he wrapped it with his arms on the table. "What am I gonna do…?"
"Huh? You barely did it?" Lily asked.
"Despite his physical appearence, he's a mere child when it comes to doing this sort of thing." Gorrum explained. "Keng, you must do your best. You only have twenty-three months or so before you have to leave. If you don't train well, now, it'll be for naught when you go back to Earth. Do you want to fail?"
"No!" Keng shot out of his chair. "I have to do well. Why do you keep saying that?"
"Remember that resolve if you want to live to tell the tale. In addition to perfecting Energy manipulation and Energy Sensory, you'll have to strengthen yourself. You have access to your Soul orb, so you must fight many creatures to level up your skills. If you can attain souls to evolve, that's even better." Gorrum told him.
"I know, sir." Keng sat down. "Energy manipulation is weird for me. I understand the concept well enough that I can use my powers, but I don't understand it enough to use it passively and not be so 'wasteful.' It's just… tiring."
"It'll be tiring for awhile. I'm impressed you could actually do it enough to pass bare minimum. Bare minimum takes at least six months." Jyu'so patted Keng. "Continue to practice and you'll improve. You have Lily to train with you now. Maybe you can get some insight from how she feels and uses Energy manipulation."
