Chapter 79 BLAIRE A horrific sight welcomedas soon as | stepped out of the car. We weren't able to get inside the gate because it was blocked by police cars parked outside the mansion. There was a long yellow tape barracading the entrance.

“Excuse me, sir. You can’t cinside. There's an active investigation going on inside.” One of the police officers stopped us from entering the scene.

“I'm the owner of the house,” Sebastian introduces himself.

As soon as he heard that, he quickly raised the yellow tape so we could pass by. | immediately ran to the gate, but | was startled when | saw the blood sca ttered all over the ground. My eyes were filled with terror when | saw them carrying a dead body.

“Blaze...” | uttered my son’s nin fear.

“Who's the officer-in-charge?” Sebastian asked one of the officers. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and squeezedgently. He then guidedas we followed one of the officers, leading us to the one in charge.

“Mr. Foster?” the officer-in-charge asked.

“Yes, that's me. What happened here?” The officer-in-charge was about to answer when | interjected.

“Where's my son?” | asked. It may be as cold as it sounds, but | don’t really care about the details. All | want to know is to find my son.

He didn’t get a chance to answer it again when Candice rushed through the door.

“Blaire!” she calledout. “I'm sorry | couldn't protect him,” she said, bursting in tears. She looked terrible. She had busted lips, and her face was covered in bruises.

“What's going on, Candice? Are you alright?” | asked frantically, my voice laced with worry. “And where's Blaze?” Candice’s expression crumbled as she struggled to find the words. “I tried to stop them,” she began, her voice trembling with fear and anguish. “But they... they shot 1/8 Dre [e] 15:23 Mon, 11 Mar Chapter 79 Clifford, and they... they killed the guards.” 48% My heart ski pped a beat at her words, a cold shiver running down my spine. “Oh my go d,” | gasped, my eyes widening in shock. “Where's Clifford now? “They were demanding something; | don’t know what. Clifford tried to intervene, but they shot him.” FD Tears streamed down Candice’s face as she struggled to compose herself. “I tried to reason with them, but they were relentless. They took Blaze and... and they left. I'm so sorry, Blaire. | tried to protect him, but I couldn't.” My heart clenched at Candice’s words; the weight of her anguish was almost suffocating. “It’s not your fault, Candice,” | reassured her, my voice barely above a whisper. “We'll find him. “We're already analyzing every shred of evidence left by the kidnappers,” the officer-in-charge interjected, his voice a reassuring presence amid the chaos. “We're doing everything in our power to track them down. But for now, we need both of you to answer a few questions. It could help us uncover who might be behind this.” Turning to Sebastian, he continued, “Can you think of anyone who might have a motive for this? Anyone who might hold a grudge against your family?” Sebastian paused for a moment, his brow furrowing in deep thought.

“Catherine,” | interjected, the nslipping from my lips with a weight of certainty. “There’s no one in the world who holds a grudge against us like she does.” “But Catherine doesn’t know about Blaze,” Sebastian pointed out.

“She’s been inside this house before. | don’t know how, but she’s the only one who could have a motive for this,” I insisted.

“These are dangerous men, Blaire,” Sebastian cautioned, his tone grave. “Men who 2/8 Dre [e] 0 15:23 Mon, 11 Mar F Chapter 79 wouldn't hesitate to kill. Do you truly believe your sister could be behind this?” “Are you defending her?” | hissed, feeling a surge of frustration.

48% “No, that’s not what | meant. | just don’t want the police to pursue the wrong lead,” Sebastian clarified, his voice tinged with concern.

Sebastian's words hitlike a slap in the face, causingto pause and reconsider. Could I really be accusing Catherine without concrete evidence? But then again, the pieces seemed to fit too perfectly to ignore.

“I understand your concern, Sebastian,” | conceded, my tone softening slightly. “But we can’t dismiss any possibilities at this point. We need to consider every angle to find Blaze.” Sebastian nodded in reluctant agreement, his expression mirroring the turmoil within me. Despite our differences, we were united in our determination to bring Blaze hsafely, even if it meant confronting uncomfortable truths along the way.

As the weight of our situation settled over us like a suffocating blanket, | knew that the road ahead would be fraught with challenges. But for the sake of my son, | was willing to face whatever obstacles lay in our path, even if it meant confronting the darkest corners of my own family’s history.

With a heavy heart, | turned to the officer-in-charge, ready to cooperate fully in their investigation. “We'll provide any information we can to help find Blaze,” | assured him, my voice tinged with determination.

The officer nodded, his expression grave yet determined. “We appreciate your cooperation. We'll do everything in our power to bring your son hsafely,” he pledged, his words offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair.

The hours stretched into an agonizing wait as the investigation unfolded. Each passing minute felt like an eternity, filled with anxious anticipation and desperate prayers for Blazes safe return. | couldn't shake the feeling of helplessness that gnawed at my insides, a constant reminder of the precious moments slipping away while my son remained in the clutches of his captors.

“I can’t just sit here and wait any longer,” | declared, rising from the couch with a sense of urgency coursing through my veins. The minutes stretched into agonizing hours, and the gnawing anxiety threatened to consme entirely. “I need to do 3/8 Dre [e] 8 48% Chapter 79 something.” FD Candice’s eyes widened with concern as she watched me, her own worry mirroring mine. “What are you planning to do, Blaire?” she asked, her voice laced with apprehension.

Sebastian was engrossed in coordinating with the police, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. The lack of any communication from the kidnappers only fueled my conviction that Catherine was behind it all. “I'm going to find my son,” | stated firmly, my resolve unshakeable.

a “How do you plan to do that?” Candice inquired, her voice tinged with concern as she regardedwith furrowed brows.

“I need your help,” | replied, meeting her gaze with a sense of urgency. “You have to cover for me.” Candice’s eyes widened in alarm, her worry palpable. “Blaire, isn’t that dangerous?” she protested, her voice laced with apprehension. “Now that we know for sure that there's someone after you and your family, | don’t think it's safe for you to go on your own.” | paused, considering her words carefully. She had a point-the threat looming over us was real, and venturing out alone posed its own set of risks. But the thought of Blaze in danger spurredforward, overriding any sense of fear or doubt.

“I know it's risky,” | acknowledged, my voice resolute. “But | can’t just sit back and wait. | have to do whatever it takes to find Blaze, no matter the danger.” Candice’s expression softened, understanding dawning in her eyes as she recognized the depth of my determination. Despite her concerns, she knew that nothing could deterfrom seeking out my son.

“Alright, Blaire,” she relented, her voice tinged with resignation. “I'll cover for you. But please, be careful. | can’t bear the thought of anything happening to you.” | reached out and squeezed her hand gratefully, a silent acknowledgement of her support. “Thank you, Candice,” | said earnestly. “I'll do everything in my power to stay safe and bring Blaze home.” With the mansion filled with observant eyes, | knew | had to move fast to avoid 4/8 Dre ik} 15:24 Mon, 11 Mar Chapter 79 48% being seen. Getting past Sebastian and the police without them noticing would be tricky.

| left the mansion through the back door, trying not to make any noise. The night was chilly, and the moon made long shadows. Every little sound madejump, feeling nervous.

Sticking to the shadows, | walked along the edge of the property. Each step felt heavy with the weight of my decision. But the thought of Blaze in danger gavecourage to keep going.

When | looked back at the mansion one last time, | felt a pang of fear. But | couldn't let that stop me. With a deep breath, | headed into the darkness, leaving the safety of the mansion behind as | searched for my son.

| knew there was one place | had to go to find answers. | called a cab and headed straight to my father’s house, hoping they hadn’t moved.

As the cab sped through the city streets, my heart raced with anticipation and anxiety. The familiar sights and sounds of my childhood neighbourhood brought back a flood of memories, both comforting and unsettling.

When we finally arrived at my father’s house, Phesitated for a moment before paying the driver and stepping out onto the sidewalk. The house loomed before me, its familiar facade stirring a mixture of emotions within me.

With a deep breath, | approached the front door and rang the bell, my heart pounding in my chest as | waited for someone to answer. As the seconds ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity, | braced myself for whatever lay ahead. No matter what, | was determined to uncover the truth and bring my son back home, where he belonged.

| wasn’t expecting Stacy to open the door. Her surprise was evident as she blinked at me, clearly caught off guard by my unexpected visit. But as she recovered from her initial shock, a sinister grin spread across her face, accompanied by a raised eyebrow.

“What evil spirit brought you here, Blaire?” She taunted, her smirk oozing with malice.

“Your daughter is the evil spirit that broughthere,” | retorted, my voice firm with determination.

Dre [e] 15:24 Mon, 11 Mar Chapter 79 48% Stacy's smile faltered at my words, her expression darkening with a mixture of anger and concern. But before she could respond, | pushed past her and stepped into the foyer, my resolve unyielding.

“Where is she? | need to talk to her!” | demanded, my urgency drivingforward.

“Stop making a scene here, Blaire,” Stacy admonished, followinginto the house. “Catherine isn’t here.

What's gotten into you? You can’t just barge into someone’s house and cause a commotion.” “I'll leave as soon as you giveyour daughter,” | stated firmly, refusing to back down.

“As | said, Catherine isn’t here. What's your problem?” Stacy retorted, her voice tinged with frustration.

“My problem is your daughter. She kidnapped my son!” | yelled, my anger boiling over.

“That's an absurd accusation, Blaire,” Stacy shot back, her tone incredulous. “My daughter couldn't hurt a fly, let alone kidnap someone else’s child. And we had no idea you even had a child.” Before | could respond, the familiar voice of my father echoed from the second floor of the house. “What's going on here?” He called out, his tone filled with surprise and concern.

“Blaire?” he uttered as he hurried down the stairs, his eyes widening in shock as he reached me. Without hesitation, he envelopedin a tight embrace, his arms offering a sense of comfort and familiarity amidst the chaos.

Despite the flood of emotions that washed overat the sight of my father, | couldn't shake the lingering pain of the past. His choice to prioritize Stacy and Catherine over his own daughter had left a deep wound that still throbbed with betrayal.

But amidst the ache of old wounds, | couldn't deny the overwhelming sense of relief at seeing him alive and well.

Despite everything, | had missed him, the warmth of his embrace, and the sound of his voice.

Yet, | knew that now wasn’t the tfor reminiscing or dwelling on past hurts.

Pushing aside the tumult of emotions raging within me, | straightened my Dre [1] [e] < 15.24 Mon, Chapter 79 48% FD shoulders and met my father’s gaze with determination. “I'm glad to see you, Dad,” | said, my voice steady despite the turmoil swirling within me. “But | didn’t chere to reminisce. | chere to find answers and to bring my son back home.” My father’s eyes widened in surprise and excitement. “You had a son? I'm a grandfather now.” He exclaimed, a hopeful gleam in his eyes. “Can | meet him?” “You can, Dad. As soon as your daughter shows up and givesback my son,” | replied firmly, my tone leaving no room for negotiation.

Stacy interjected, her voice sharp with defensiveness. “Will you please stop accusing my daughter?” she demanded, her expression growing increasingly hostile. “Where's your proof that it was my daughter who kidnapped your son? Sebastian is a very wealthy man. I'm sure he made a lot of dangerous enemies along the way. Why don’t you ask him?” | bristled at her words, frustration bubbling up within me. “I don’t need proof to know that Catherine is involved,” | retorted, my voice tinged with anger.

Stacy's words cut through the tension like a knife, her accusation stinging with the sharpness of truth. | paused, momentarily taken aback by her assertion.

“Do you even hear yourself, Blaire?” Stacy continued, her voice laced with frustration. “You're so consumed by your anger towards your sister that you jump at any opportunity to blher. But my Catherine wouldn't be capable of doing what you're accusing her of.” “I may not have proof now, but once I find out that she’s the one behind this, I'll make sure justice is served,” | vowed, my voice firm with determination. “I will not show her any mercy,” | declared, my words filled with resolve. “If she’s responsible for taking my son away from me, she’ll face the consequences of her actions.” “I think you should leave now, or Ill call the police,” Stacy threatened, her tone brimming with warning.

Realizing that neither of them had any idea about their daughter’s actions, | made the decision to leave.

“I'll walk you to the door, Blaire,” my father offered, and | accepted his gesture. As we made our way to the exit, he leaned in to whisper something to me. “I don’t believe that Catherine could do what you're accusing her of.” 7/8 Dre 111 15:24 Mon, 11 Mar F Chapter 79 48% FD Despite my frustration, | wasn’t surprised by his defence of Catherine. “Thanks, dad,” | replied. | was relieved that at least my father chosewhen | needed him the most. | hugged him before leaving. | immediately call a cab as | stare at the address written on the small piece of paper.
