Chapter 355 Asher's lips curled into a wicked, predatory grin. He tightened his hold on Claire, leaning in to whisper right next to her ear, his voice low and suggestive. "Claire, after all these years, you're still as irresistible as ever. Since you're here, don't be in such a hurry to leave. Stay withfor a while, hmm?" His breath tickled the sensitive skin behind her ear, sending a wave of goosebumps down her arms.

Claire struggled desperately, but Asher's grip was iron-strong-she couldn't move an inch.

Just then, the door to the private dining room creaked open again.

Everyone turned to look. Framed in the doorway stood a striking woman in a white dress, her long dark hair falling sleek and straight. She exuded a blend of innocence and allure, every inch the picture of poised beauty.

Her gaze swept across the room before landing squarely on Asher and Claire.

Instantly, her expression soured-her face went pale, eyes blazing with anger and disbelief.

"Scarlet?" Asher blurted out, a flicker of embarrassment crossing his face before he quickly composed himself. He released Claire, stepping forward to greet her. "Scarlet, you finally made it! We've all been waiting for you." But Scarlet Monroe acted as if she hadn't heard a word. Her eyes fixated on Claire with open contempt. After being dumped by Hans and then by Normand Lewis, Scarlet had been desperate to find another man to rely on. Asher was her golden ticket-her hard-won prize.

She'd done her homework. Asher might only be a junior sales manager for now, nowhere near Normand's wealth or Hans's local clout, but he'd just graduated and already landed a job at Foster & Co.-the most prestigious firm in Vesperia. His future was undoubtedly bright.

And, crucially, Asher was going through a messy divorce with his wife-a spoiled heiress from Cresthaven. Once the divorce was final, he'd surely walk away with a hefty settlement.

Sticking with Asher meant an end to her worries about hardship or struggle. If Asher managed to catch the attention of Mr. Foster himself and climb even higher, her life would be set. Even if he eventually lost interest in her, she had a backup plan: use her twith Asher to get close to Mr. Foster.

With her looks and skill at charming men, she was confident she could win Mr. Foster's favor. She didn't need to marry into old money; just being close to it-just catching a few crumbs-would guarantee her a life of comfort and luxury.

For someone of her background, meeting Mr. Foster on her own was nearly impossible. That's why Asher was so important-a stepping stone she couldn't afford to lose.

Now, seeing her carefully chosen stepping stone tangled up with s"tramp," the two of them practically wrapped around each other, rage boiled up inside her. How dare this woman try to ruin everything? Scarlet couldn't let it slide. Not a chance.

She glared daggers at Claire, her voice trembling with fury. "You shameless bitch! Seducing my man-are you tired of living or just plain desperate?" Claire quickly guessed who this furious woman must be. She tried to explain, "You've got it all wrong. I didn't seduce Asher-he's the one who put his hands on me. Aren't you his girlfriend? Maybe you should keep a closer eye on your boyfriend."

Scarlet wasn't interested in explanations. In her mind, Claire Was les the homewrecker, deliberately provoking her, the "official" girlfriend.

Scarlet's anger snapped. She swung her purse with full force, shrieking as she aimed straight for Claire. You slut! How dare you go after my man! I'll teach you a lesson you won't forget!" Instinctively, Claire raised her arms to shield herself, but the heavy bag still struck her, leaving a sharp sting.

May, seeing what was happening, rushed to protect Claire, only to be grabbed and pinned to the table by one of the men at the party.

"Stop it! That's enough! Ms. Claire is engaged-she'd never go after someone else's boyfriend!" May shouted.

Scarlet shot her a cold, mocking smile. "Oh, engaged, are you? And yet you're still shameless enough to seduce my man. Maybe your own fiancé isn't enough for you. Trash like you belongs on the street-maybe then you'd finally be satisfied with all the men you'd get."
