Chapter 340 His fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel, each movement steady and almost playful.
Inside the car, tension hung in the air, subtle but unmistakable. Mandy clung to the bouquet of roses in her lap, as if hoping it could shield her from the awkwardness churning inside.
Just when she thought this painfully long drive was finally about to end, something unexpected happened. Without warning, Liam reached over, his gesture casual as he rested his arm on the center console. But under that easy air, his large hand found its way to Mandy's slender waist, his fingers deliberately kneading the sensitive dip at her side, right where he knew she was most ticklish.
A startled gasp escaped Mandy's lips before she could stop herself, her whole body going rigid.
She spun around to glare at him, but Liam kept his eyes fixed on the road, his face calm and collected-like nothing at all had happened.
Yet his hand remained exactly where it was, lingering with a secret relish, clearly enjoying the thrill of getting away with it.
Mandy's cheeks burned red. She wanted to snap at him, but with Claire and her mother sitting in the back seat, she couldn't risk drawing their attention.

But she hardly dared to move, biting her lower lip and trying desperately not to make another sound as the teasing pressure at her waist sent wave after wave of tingling sensation through her.
Unfortunately, May had caught that little gasp.
"Mandy, are you alright?" May's gentle concern made Mandy's heart leap into her throat.
"I'm fine! Just-just pricked myself on a thorn," Mandy stammered, clutching the roses closer and angling them toward Liam, hoping to hide his mischievous hand.
She prayed the three people in the back seat hadn't noticed anything unusual. If they had, she'd have died of embarrassment right then and there.
Liam's eyes sparkled with mischief.
To Mandy, the rest of the drive dragged on forever, every minute feeling like an eternity.
By the tthey finally reached the restaurant, she was soaked in cold sweat.
The moment the car cto a stop, Mandy scrambled out, barely waiting for it to park.
"Mandy, slow down!" May called after her, worried by her daughter's sudden rush.
But Mandy had already darted into the restaurant, tossing back a hurried excuse "I, um, need to use the restroom!"-just to keep her mother from asking more questions.
She made a beeline for the ladies' room, turned on the faucet, and splashed her burning face with icy water.
Gradually, the flush in her cheeks faded. She looked up into the mirror, meeting the gaze of her own disheveled reflection-wide-eyed, beads of water clinging to her skin, looking as flustered as she felt. She silently cursed herself for letting Liam get to her.
She'd never felt so mortified before. This was a first.
Liam, you'd better watch yourself. Or else...
It took her several minutes to regain her composure and finally step out of the restroom.

"Well, well, planning to throw yourself atnow?" he teased, leaning down so his breath was warm against her ear.
Mandy stiffened, panic rising. Of all the people she wanted to see right now, Liam was last on the list. She pushed at him, but his strong arms locked around her waist; she couldn't wriggle free. "Can't you ever leavealone?" she hissed, exasperated.
Liam didn't reply. Instead, he held her tighter and, without warning, pulled her into one of the restroom stalls.
The cramped space filled with the heat of their mingled breaths.
Mandy's eyes widened in shock, her chest rising and falling as she tried to keep her voice down. "Are you voice dogs insane? This is the ladies' room!" But Liam only grinned wickedly, drawing her even closer, as if he wanted to fuse their bodies together.
"What's there to be afraid of? There's no one else here right now."
As he spoke, he dipped his head, his nose brushing through her hair as he took in her scent, drinking her in like okin she was the only oxygen in the room.
