“That's not it!” | replied quickly.

“You keep saying you're too busy,” Soren grumbled. “I was worried you'd decided to retreat back into your shell

again.”

“No, | really am busy these days. | thought | told you that,” said, feeling a twinge of guilt.

“You still need to eat. How about no overttonight and dinner withinstead?”

| felt a bit cornered. | hadn't finished as much work as I'd planned.

“Can you wait at least an hour? Letfinish sof these things!” | said, giving him my best puppy-dog eyes.

He smiled and leaned toward me. “First, how about a little fanservice for your boyfriend?”

He was tall enough that his whole body cast a shadow over my desk.

| blushed-and glanced around my office.

“No one’s here. It's just your office,” he said.

| pointed at the surveillance camera. “There's that.”

“It's justa ”

Before he could finish, | quickly pressed my lips to his, pulling away almost immediately. | could hardly taste him.

“Good enough?” | asked.

He didn’t straighten up. Instead, he stared at me, looking disappointed.

Finally, he sighed. “Never mind. Go ahead and finish your work. I'll wait.”

He walked over to the client couch and sat down. | wanted to ask if he wanted something to drink, but then

again, maybe it was best to just finish quickly so we could have dinner.

| got to work.

“Alright, let’s go!” | said, standing up and letting out a relieved sigh.

| grabbed my coat and scarf.

Soren reached out his hand as | passed. Timidly, | muttered, “Maybe not while I'm at work?”

He silently took my hand and ledout of my office.

Just as we passed Jamie's door, it opened. He looked just as surprised to see us.

“Good evening, Mr. Young. You've been working hard, huh?” | greeted him automatically.

“Yeah.” He smiled. “Had something | needed to finish today. Figured I'd wait until traffic died down.”

He glanced between Soren and me, and | could swear he looked at our hands. | felt self-conscious and quickly let
