Chapter 264

1 gazed at Soren, guilt in my eyes, unsure of what to do.

After a moment, | decided to try to make him stay. “You must be hungry. You haven't eaten yet...”

As soon as | spoke, the elevator chimed, and a young man in a suit stepped out, carrying a a brown bag with

food, which he handed over to Soren with respect.

“Here’s your lunch, Mr. Kenway.”

| instinctively reached out to take it.

Soren, not wantingto carry anything heavy, took it from the young man before | could and said, “Good work,

thank you.”

“Anytime, Mr. Kenway.”

The young man returned to the elevator, while | looked at Soren, emphasizing, “You should stay and eat before

you leave.”

Soren chuckled. “I'm glad you asked. | thought you'd be eager to kickout as soon as your family showed up.”

“I...” | met his gaze, seeing a faint trace of self-mockery in his eyes, which madefeel incredibly guilty. Truth

be told, | had considered doing exactly that.

“Ill take this inside for you. You go ahead and sit down.” Soren held the bag in one hand while supporting me

with the other as we moved toward the living room.

“You two haven't eaten yet?” my aunt asked, curious.

“I went for treatment around 10:30 a.m. and cstraight back,” | explained.

Soren placed the bag on the dining table and turned to my grandmother and aunt.

With a polite tone, he said, “I should be going now. I'll leave you two to spend twith Taylor.”

Despite his distinguished background, he carried himself with such composure and courtesy, showing no sign of

arrogance.

My grandmother, already seated on the couch, immediately stood when she heard him. “Why are you leaving?

You haven't eaten yet, have you?”

At her words, | turned to him again, trying to persuade him once more. “Grandma'’s right. You should at least eat

something before you leave.”

My aunt stepped forward, adding, “Surely we can’t let you leave hungry after all you've done for Tay-Tay. Please,

sit down and eat.”

As she spoke, she walked to the entryway and closed the door, leaving Soren no choice but to stay.

“Alright then, thank you for having me.”

His marmers, self-restraint, and emotional intelligence were impeccable-nothing to criticize.

My face flushed, and | was so nervous my hands trembled.

But from the looks on my grandmother and aunt's faces, they didn’t seem to mind Soren’s presence. In fact, it

seemed as though, in these few minutes, they had already been charmed by his effortless charisma.

Soren began unpacking the food containers, then glanced at me.

| snapped out of my daze and quickly turned to ask, “Have you two eaten? If not, please join us. There's plenty

to share.”

“We already had lunch before coming over,” my aunt replied.

“Really?”

“Yes, don’t you remember? Your grandmother always eats at the stevery day."

| nodded, agreeing with my aunt's statement.

So, it would be just Soren andeating.

My aunt got up to pour swater, but Soren managed to rise before | could react. “Letget you some

water.” My aunt waved him off politely. “It’s alright, really. You go ahead and eat. I'll help myself.”

I glanced at him, feeling anxious.

| hadn't expected to introduce him to the two most important people in my family so suddenly, especially

without having tto prepare myself.

1 could sense that everyone present had their own thoughts yet they all remained courteous and careful with

their words.

The air was thick with formality, making every second feel agonizingly long.

After pouring my grandmother a cup of water, my aunt sat back on the sofa.

A while later, unable to hold back any longer, she spoke up. ‘Mr. Kenway, you two seem... pretty close.”

Her words carried a clear, probing intent.

| stiffened, overwhelmed by such awkwardness that | felt like | was being roasted on a grill.
