Chapter 207
“How long till your friend is here?” Soren asked.
| checked my phone. “About half an hour from now.”
Without warning, he slipped off his trench coat and draped it over me, pulling it down over my head.
“The temperature is below zero, and you're still wearing so little. Ladies really do endure the cold for the sake of
fashion,” he remarked.
“Ah, I'm fine!” | quickly protested, startled. “I'm not even cold! And if | take this, you'll freeze once you step
outside.”
“The car is right outside-I'll be fine. But you'll be here for another thirty minutes. | don’t want you freezing,” he
insisted.
Worried that | might take it off, he grabbed the sleeves and tied them securely around my arms.
“Now you're warm,” he said with satisfaction.
“Dude, | look like a prisoner tied up.”

He patted my head. “Never seen a prisoner this beautiful.”
My cheeks burned. My heart swelled with joy.
“Ill be off now. See you tomorrow.”
“Right. Bye-bye.”
| watched his tall, gallant figure disappear through the automatic doors, completely dazed.
To be fair, the arrival gate was heated, but the doors kept opening and closing as people cand went, letting
sharp gusts of winter air rush inside.
None of that cold touched me, though. All | felt was warmth
| knew it then my heart was sinking deeper and deeper into this feeling.
Half an hour later, Amanda finally arrived.
The moment we spotted each other from across the hall, we waved excitedly and ran toward each other.
“Welcome, welcome! Happy to see you, Mrs. Editor-in-Chief!” | quipped.
“Oh, happy to see you too, Mrs. CEO!”
We hugged tightly before pulling apart.
Amanda gavea once-over and sniffed the air curiously. What perfare you using? The scent is... unique.”
Her eyes drifted to the coat | was still wrapped in. She tilted her head. “Wait a sec... This is a men’s trench coat,
isn't it?”
Soren'’s clothes were all tailored. At 6’2“, his coat practically swallowed me, draping down to my ankles.
“Uh, yeah. It's someone else's. I'm just... borrowing it. For now,” | answered awkwardly.

Amanda winked. “Ohhh, so that scent cfrom the coat, huh? Edward's got pretty good taste!”
Oh, she thought it belonged to Edward.
1 grabbed one of her suitcases and started leading her toward the parking lot. “Nah. This isn’t his.”
“What?” She blinked. Then, after a beat, her mouth fell open. “Wait-what?”
She turned to stare at me, looking as if | had just admitted to an affair.

It was rare to meet someone who didn’t already know. The wedding fiasco had gone so viral that even my old
friends and former classmates outside Metropolis had reached out to askabout it.
Amanda's reaction toldshe wasn’t the type to care about gossip. She probably didn’t keep up with her old
schoolmates much either.
“It’s a long story.”
As we drove, Amanda mentioned that she wouldn't actually be staying withafter all. She could only spare
tfor dinner before heading to another part of the city-she had an early morning meeting with a headhunting
company.
