Chapter 100
| really didn’t want to talk to Edward’s family, but out of civility, | smiled and greeted, “Hi, Mrs. Kennedy.”
“Have you really hooked up with Mr. Kenway, as they say? Does he know you've been divorced? It's so
unbecoming and unfit for him!” Sally questioned.
“Divorced? She’s not even there yet! She's legally still Edward's civil partner! That makes all of this an affair!”
Edith snapped, pouting angrily.
“Why does Mr. Kenway even have eyes for her? External beauty is all she has, anyway!” she growled.
Me, committing a “marital affair?” God, they sure made things up on the fly.
“Have you heard of this thing called ‘the brain?‘ You're not supposed to just own it-you’re supposed to use it too,
“I retorted. “For example, you can easily ask anyone in this hall who had the affair first. Go on, I'll wait.”
Edith wasn’t the wittiest. She stammered.
Sally, however, was more experienced and clear-headed. “I know Ed has made mistakes, but you shouldn't be

“He’s learned the errors of his ways and wants to do right by you.
“He’s been your boyfriend for six years. Nobody lets go of that easily.”
| almost laughed at the absurdity of her arguments. “No wonder your son turned out the way he did. Parenting is

The people around us started to look.
| scanned their faces and reminded her, “Edith Kennedy, you should really pay attention to your surroundings.
This isn’t your home, girl.

“You-“Edith was about to argue when Sally tugged on her arm.
“Edith! We're at the Kenway residence!” she warned.
| sneered. At least Sally knew better than to be an embarrassment.
| was ready to leave, but when | turned, | saw Lisbeth approaching me.
“Oh, MadKenway! Happy birthday. May you have even more cheers and joy to come!” | greeted.
Lisbeth smiled kindly. “Oh, Taylor! I'm so glad you're here!
The crowd stared at us in surprise. Sally and Edith were the most shocked.
“MadKenway, are the two of you close?” Sally asked, eyes wide.
Lisbeth stood next to me. “Oh, quite so. Taylor's practically my friend. | admire her skilled hands-she was the one

She twirled a little.

The crowd started to murmur.
Edith pouted and muttered, “She’s a tailor. Of course she’s skilled.”
“Every trade under the sun deserves respect,” Lisbeth replied before | could even defend myself. “More
importantly, Taylor's work has earned international laurels. This isn’t an easy feat to manage at all.”
Smiling, she asked softly, “What's your specialty, Miss Kennedy?”
“M-Me?” Edith was surprised and nervous to be singled out by Lisbeth. “I... I'm a pianist! I've won awards before,
too.”
“Have you hosted a concert before?” Lisbeth asked.
