“Huh? Why are we suddenly digging into him now?” Kent was puzzled.
Ever since Brandon suspected Ivan was hiding Sophia, even after he personally went to check and found no one there, he still had
people snoop around Ivan for a bit, just to make sure he wasn't secretly stashing Sophia away before he dropped it.
Kent didn't get why Brandon was all of a sudden back on Ivan's case.
"Just do it." Brandon said, "I want results by tomorrow."
With that, Brandon hung up.
The traffic ahead hadn't budged. It was still rush hour, and the streets were choked with cars. The lane going straight was jam-
packed, almost at a standstill.

Brandon's car was stopped right on the crosswalk. He glanced at the traffic light about to turn green, stashed his phone, shifted
into drive, eased off the gas, and was about to follow the car ahead when a white car in the left lane zipped past him, turning left.
As the car passed, its shadow briefly crossed over him, and Brandon instinctively turned his head for a look.
The delicate silhouette resting against the car window caught his eye, and his foot jerked on the pedal, instinctively wanting to
swerve and follow.
But the oing traffic in the left lane and the frantic whistling of the traffic cop stopped him from making that kamikaze move.
His car that was going to catch the white one with a desperate intent cto an abrupt halt.
The impatient honking from behind started up. The cop directing traffic was blowing his whistle like mad, gesturing for cars to get a
move on.
One by one, cars in the left lane turned away. With no choice but to move forward amid the urging, Brandon couldn't help but look
back towards the lane he wanted to turn into. The white sedan was long gone.
Brandon's heart was pounding. He hadn't seen it clearly as the car passed by, but that silhouette...
Trembling, his hand on the wheel, he couldn't make out the face behind the fleeting shadow and dark glass. But Brandon didn't
want to miss any chance. At the next intersection, he swung the car around without a second thought and headed down the lane
the white car had turned into.
However, with the rush hour traffic and crowded streets, the white sedan had vanished without a trace.
Brandon drove around like a headless chicken in the jam-packed streets, but found nothing. The car was gone, and he hadn't even
caught the license plate number.

As the traffic thinned out, Brandon had no choice but to give up the search and drive home. Theresa had been waiting for him for a
while. As soon as she saw him, she cover to him.
“Daddy,” the word cout shaky and anxious.
“What is it?” Brandon bent down to hug her and only then noticed the police in the living room. His heart skipped a beat.
Susan was also there. Upon seeing him, she approached him, lowered her voice, and explained, “The police found a badly
dposed body of a young woman in the West district waters. They haven't identified her yet, but considering the direction of
the currenting from Zion City, they can't rule out that it might be...”
Susan choked up, unable to say it might be Sophia, her voice breaking, “We need a family member's DNA forparison.”
Brandon's face turned pale. The police stepped forward, showed Brandon their badge, and said, “Good evening, Mr. Crawley.”
They then briefly explained the situation to Brandon. Since they couldn't rule out the possibility that the body might be Sophia,
they needed to collect Theresa's DNA forparison.
Brandon watched the officer's lips move but couldn't react. Theresa, not quite understanding, clung anxiously to Brandon's arm.
