Chapter 1569:
When she played, she was all in. When she studied, she dove in deep. For over an hour, she worked hard on her
assignments until Freya called her downstairs for dinner. She hopped up and followed Jesse to the table.
At dinner, she seemed a little lost in thought.
Freya, always tuned in to the kids’ feelings, thought Nina might be missing Kristian. “Are you sad because
Kristian’s gone?” she asked gently.
Nina nodded at first. Then, as if a light bulb went off, she shook her head quickly. Freya and Ellis exchanged
confused looks. They couldn’t quite read her mixed signals.
“Mommy,” Nina said, her voice hopeful but distracted.
“Yes, sweetheart?” Freya replied.
“Jesse said there's someone out there even better-looking than Jerome,” Nina said, her curiosity burning. “Do
you know where he is?” Jesse paused, then clarified, “I was just talking hypothetically.” Nina's eyes darted
around, searching for answers.

While Nina wrestled with her little worries, Kristian’s night was far more tangled. He got back to Jeucwell at half-
past eleven. Seeing that Isaac and Melinda were already asleep, he slipped into his room to freshen up.
As he stepped out of the bathroom and passed through the closet to his bed, he noticed the comforter puffed up
oddly. For a split second, he wondered aloud, “Brielle?” No sound or movement cfrom the bed.
He walked over, reaching to pull back the comforter and check.
But the moment his hand grazed the fabric, the figure beneath shot up, tossing the blanket aside.
“It’s me,” Brielle said, her voice soft under the dim light.
She wore a striking black camisole that highlighted her skin. Her cheeks were slightly pink, giving her a shy yet
alluring look, like a siren calling from the sea.

But Kristian’s eyes turned cold. “What are you doing here?”
“I was waiting for you,” Brielle said.
“It’s late. Go to bed,” Kristian replied, handing her the phone she’d left on the nightstand. His face showed no
flicker of feeling.
Brielle’s frustration flared. “Kristian Shaw!” she snapped.
