Chapter223
Yet now, he pitifully finished carrot-laden congee and actually washed the bowl.
A man born with a silver spoon-washing dishes?
Maureen was composing in her room when Zoe cdownstairs and saw the kitchen filled with bubbles.
Zoe was stunned, her eyes shimmering with tears as they reflected Geoffrey's dignified figure.
He was rolling up his sleeves to wash dishes, the sink frothing with soap suds.
The only tZoe had ever interacted with Geoffrey was five years ago, over a phone call.
During that call, she'd begged him to treat Maureen well.
But Geoffrey had been icily indifferent. His words still echoed in her mind.
He'd said: “What kind of life Maureen lives is none of my business!?”
“She deserves every bit of it!”
Recalling the past, Zoe felt no pity for Geoffrey whatsoever.
By his own words-he deserved this.
With shadows on her lungs, Zoe's health had been fluctuating lately. Knowing her days were numbered, she just
wanted to make the most of her last days with Maureen.
Hobbling into the kitchen, she said coldly:
“Mr. Sutton, if you feel wronged here, you should leave.
A modest hlike ours isn’t suited for you.”
Hearing the aged voice, Geoffrey recognized Zoe-Maureen’s mother, his mother-in-law.
“If Reenie can live here, so can I.”

Zoe froze.
Was this the soverbearing Geoffrey from before?

She figured his blindness must've forced this act. Certain it wouldn't last, she simply ignored
him.
Although Maureen had said no one except Geoffrey should cover,
Wayne still worried about his boss and drove over early to check on him.
Peering through the window, he was stunned to see his boss being bossed around by Maureen-washing dishes
and tidying up.
Seizing the moment while Zoe was resting and Maureen was composing in the music room, Wayne climbed over
the wall.
“Boss, you shouldn't be doing this!”
Wayne took the dishes from Geoffrey's hands and hastily scrubbed them.
Geoffrey frowned. “Why are you here?”
“Couldn't leave you alone, sir.”
Having served as Geoffrey's private secretary for over nine years, Wayne was both subordinate and friend.
Though notorious for his temper and ruthlessness, Geoffrey had never mistreated Wayne.
Without Geoffrey, Wayne might still be struggling to survive in the crowd.
“Then finish washing these and tidy up. Don’t let Reenie find out,"
Geoffrey instructed.
Wayne: “...Understood.”
While secretly helping, Wayne updated him: “The shareholders’ meeting at noon today plans to remove you from
position.”
Geoffrey listened silently.
“Understood. After returning, compile aufiles of my work reports from recent years.”

“Yes.”
Wayne nodded.
Since learning that Maureen was pregnant, Geoffrey had decided that no matter what, even if he went blind,
he’d fight to reclaim what was his.
He had to secure the future for Maureen and their unborn child.
Upstairs, after finishing her composition, Maureen wondered how Geoffrey was managing.
She didn’t expect him to keep the house spotless.
But descending the stairs, she saw the immaculate kitchen, tidy living room, and perfectly arranged dishes.
For a moment, Maureen doubted anything was wrong with Geoffrey's eyes.
Geoffrey sat on the sofa, studying Braille.
His hearing sharpened, he looked up: “Reenie, done working?”
“How'd you know it was me?
Not Zoe?”
“Your footsteps sound different.”
Geoffrey replied.
Maureen marveled: “You cleaned everything?”
A flicker of discomfort crossed Geoffrey's face.
“Yeah, | did.”
Maureen didn’t press whether he actually had.
Seeing Zoe asleep again and lacking inspiration herself, she turned on the news.
When she switched to the finance channel, Maureen saw Corporate Headquarters‘ shareholder meeting
broadcast live.

11:00 AM.
Corporate Headquarters’ conference hall was packed with all Sutton Family members, executives, and major
media reporters.
Everyone waited anxiously for Corporate Giant's power shift, cager to see who'd next control Sutton Group.
At the shareholders’ meeting, Nicholas arrived alongside Edward and his wife, plus other distant relatives of the
Sutton clan.
Each sought maximum profit from this gathering.
Though the Suttons had many promising youths, few matched Geoffrey's caliber. With him gone, none would
yield to another.
Thus fierce competition erupted immediately after the meeting began.
Heather was notably absent.
Most assumed she skipped it to avoid witnessing her son Geoffrey's removal. Yet within minutes of
commencement,
the main doors swung open violently.
A shocking scene unfolded.
Before media cameras, Heather entered first. Then Geoffrey strode through the entrance- tailored dark Armani
suit, crisp trousers without a crease, his 6’3” frlike a model straight out of a fashion shoot.
Panic seized everyone present at the sight of him.
Edward and his wife were especially terrified, their foreheads beaded with sweat.
After Geoffrey appeared, he uttered only one word: “Dismissed.”
No one dared to object.
Thus, the grandiose shareholders’ meeting was forcibly adjourned.
The once-ambitious young talents crept away one by one.
