Chapter 135
Audrey's POV
“Well, Miss Sinclair? Isn't this fulfilling one of your wishes?” Laurel's lips curved into a smirk as she twirled in her
light blue diamond-studded gown..
| glanced up, ignoring her attempt to get under my skin. “I don’t have such wishes.”
The diamonds on Laurel's dress caught the boutique’s lighting, sending tiny sparkles across the walls. | noticed
how the blue fabric would complement several jewelry pieces from our studio’s collection.
“Are you wearing this tomorrow
Miss Rose?” | asked, keeping my tone businesslike.
Laurel turned toward the mirror, examining her reflection. She ran her hands over the glittering fabric, admiring
how it hugged her figure.
“Blake darling,” she called out, “what do you think about this for tomorrow?”
“Too flashy,” Blake replied softly. “Not appropriate. Try something else.”
Disappointment flashed across Laurel's face before she masked it with a smile. “Fine.” She pouted slightly,
muttering about his lack of taste as she headed back to the changing room.
Thalia glanced at us. I'll change too. This isn’t working. She followed Laurel, leaving Blake and met standing
awkwardly in the center of the boutique.
| sighed, exhaustion settling in my bones. After a full day of revising designs, the last thing | needed was to
babysit these women through endless outfit changes.
“I thought her dress was fine,” | said, hoping to speed things up?
Blake kept watching the direction where Laurel had disappeared. “Not suitable.”
Seriously, | didn't understand his words. Wasn't Laurel the star of tomorrow’s event? That dress would be
perfect.
He turned to me. “You're coming tomorrow too. Why not pick something to wear?”
| stared at him like he'd suggested | shave my head. “Why would | dress up?”
We've been divorced for days, and he’s already proposing to another woman. Now he wants his e there in fancy
clothes? Is he missing brain cells?
fe
“Because tomorrow, you're the main character,” Blake said, his gaze steady.

My irritation spiked. He's proposing to Laurel but says I'm the main character? Is this snew form of torture?
Has he considered that my presence might backfire on him?
“You really wantthere?” | asked, a cold smille forming.
“Of course.” Blake nodded like it was obvious.
He pointed toward a display window featuring a pale pink dress covered in crystals. “That would suit.
you.”
That's the style | used to wear. Elegant, refined, demure,
“ATE
you offering to buy it for me?” 1 asked bluntly.
Blake met my eyes. “After everything we've been through, buying you a dress for an important
occasion isn’t unreasonable.”
“Fine.” | raised an eyebrow and pointed to the most attention-grabbing dress in the store - a ruby- encrusted
gipao-style gown that blazed like fire against the boutique’s neutral palette. “That one.”
If Blake wantsat his proposal ceremony, F’ll make sure everyone notices the ex-wife's presence. Let's see
how they handle that.
Blake's POV
| frowned at Audrey’s choice. Among the store's collection of soft pastels, that red dress stood out
like a fl- bold and impossible to ignore.
So red, so eye-catching compared to everything else here.
The sight sparked a memory of Audrey at the racetrack, pulling off her helmet, hair flowing in the wind. |
suddenly realized this woman wasn’t the scomposed, gentle Audrey who'd moved quietly
through our shared hfor years.
Audrey walked to the red dress and checked the price tag before glancing back. “Having second
thoughts? Too expensive?”
This has to be the priciest dress in the store.
“I just didn’t expect you'd choose something like this,” I said..
“You don’t know me,” she replied with a bitter laugh. “Your surprise makes sense.”
She waved over a sales assistant who carefully removed the dress from its display before.owing Audrey to the
changing room.

Moments after Audrey disappeared, Laurel emerged holding the skirt of a moon white gown.
“Blake darling, Isn’t this too plain?” she asked, turning slowly before me.
| nodded slightly. It suits you.”
Though clearly not thrilled, Laurel accepted my opinion. “Then this is what I'll wear tomorrow.
She looped her arm through mine. “I can’t wait for tomorrow's ceremony!”
| studied her excited expression, doubt creeping in. “Laurel, do you know what t
ceremony
is for?”
A blush spread across her cheeks. “Of course | do. Why else would Thalla and | be trying on dresses?”
She gazed up at me. “You've been so thoughtful. | can tell.”
Her enthusiasm madeuncomfortable. | looked away. It's nothing special.”
“It’s more than enough!” Laurel squeezed my arm. “I know how busy you are. Taking tto prepare this
surprise means a lot.”
She winked playfully. “The Four Seasons Hotel cake is delicious. I love it.”
“Michael recommended it,” | said with a small smile.
Since she mentioned the cake, she must know what tomorrow is about.
Thalia walked out in a pink dress, joining us in the store's center.
“Thalia, you look gorgeous! Laurel exclaimed.
Thalia’s face brightened. “Really?”
“Absolutely! That pink is perfect on you,” Laurel turned to the sales staff nearby. “Don’t you all
agree?”
The employees jumped in with excessive praise.
“Stunning, truly stunning!”
“The pink makes Miss Parker look like she stepped out of a fairy tale...”
“It's not just the dress - Miss/Parker has natural beauty...”
The salespeople circled Thalia, compliments flowing until she practically glowed, clearly moments.

away from reaching for her credit card.
Just then, the door to the opposite changing room swung open, and Audrey stepped out in the red
dress.
The store fell silent. Every person who'd been praising Thalla seconds ago now stared at Audrey, words dying on
their lips.
The vibrant red made every other color in the room fade to background. It demanded attention, impossible to
ignore.
| felt a flash of admiration. How did | never notice how perfectly red suits her?
Beside me, Thalia’s pink gown suddenly looked childish and washed-out compared to Audrey's bold choice. The
sales associates who'd been fawning over her now couldn't tear their eyes from Audrey.
Thalia’s expression transformed from pride to fury, as if she’d been dropped from a great height after flying too
close to the sun.
She rolled her eyes tically. “Audrey Sinclair, aren't you here to serveand Laurel?”
Her voice sharpened. “Who gave you permission to try on dresses?”
She looked Audrey up and down with undisguised contempt. “Who do you think you are?”
