She pointed at him. “Did | invite you in? | don’t want to see you. Why are you back here? Do you know how much
| hate you?”
She was drunk, so her slap wasn’t very strong. It was light, almost fluttering. But still, Arthur turned his head
away under that force.
He lowered his gaze, listening to her ramble on. His heart felt as though it were being pierced by countless sharp
knives, each one sinking deep, one after another.
Slowly, he turned his head back to face her. “Are you so filled with hatred forthat you refuse to grant me
even one opportunity?”
Charlotte shook her head. “You've run out of chances. | don’t like you anymore!”
Arthur's charming eyes locked onto her, dark and heavy. He asked, “How did you like me, exactly?”

There was a touch of self-mockery in his tone. Five years together, and while he could feel her passion, there
were times when he felt like her affection cout of nowhere, just as suddenly as her passion.
He felt they barely knew each other when she claimed to like him.
It was only five years ago that they truly met.
Charlotte suddenly stopped ranting. Her hand fell to her side. A faint blush colored her cheek as she stared at
him.
Then, she smiled lightly. “I'm not going to tell you, Arthur. You don’t deserve to know anymore.”
She had wanted to express her love for him countless times in the past, but every time, she was met with his
indifference.
His coldness had frozen the love she was about to confess, repeatedly shattering it.
She turned away, saying, “Leave now. I'm tired and need to rest.”
Arthur stood there, watching her retreating figure. He
swallowed painfully, the bitter taste spreading through his chest.
He felt that feeling again, and it really hurt.
As the one involved, he wasn’t even worthy of knowing when she

Charlotte didn’t even spare him a glance as she walked straight into the bedroom to shower and sleep.
The alcohol worked its magic, and she slept soundly, without a single nightmare. Perhaps it was the serious
promise he had given her, making her feel like she was finally climbing out of the abyss.
The next morning, Charlotte turned over in bed and then got up to freshen up. As she stepped out of the room,
she noticed a coat on the sofa.
She frowned as she recognized that it was Arthur's coat.
She thought, “He didn’t leave?”
A cold expression flashed across her face as she looked around. However, she didn’t find him.
She pulled out her phone and called Arthur.
After three beeps, the call connected.
“Hello?”
Arthur's voice was deep and slightly hoarse.
Charlotte asked, “Why is your coat here?”

Arthur's tone was distant. “I sat in your place for a while last
night and forgot to take it. If you have time, bring it over. If not, just throw it away.”
Charlotte hung up the phone immediately and tossed the coat into the trash can.
After a quick breakfast, she went straight to her studio.
The new store had opened, and the scheduled collaborations were starting today. Charlotte didn’t even have
tto drink water until noon.
When she cout of her office, she unexpectedly ran into
someone.
Camille was standing in her office, gazing at the photographs on the wall.
Charlotte's eyes were icy as she asked, “Mrs. Camille Hardwick, when did you arrive? Is there something you
need?”
Camille turned around. She looked somewhat worn out, fatigue visible in her face. Her gaze was complex as she
looked at Charlotte, and her tone was unusually gentle. “Lottie, are you still angry with me? What | said
yesterday was out of haste. | apologize. I'm sorry.”
