Chapter 497 Before Brad confronted Jean about those compromising photos, he had already begun to doubt the woman who had once held his world together. He had also started to think about distancing himself from her.
Brad was no fool. When Jean had slipped into his bed at Phoenix Villa while he was ill, scheming to make his entire family believe they'd spent the night together, he hadn't understood her motives. But later, he figured it out.
Did she ever stop to think about the consequences of using him like that? Did she really believe that, once he discovered the truth, he wouldn't want to cut her out of his life? Yet, she went ahead and did it anyway. It showed that Jean had been using him all along. Even though she claimed to love him, her actions told a different story.

Rather than badmouthing Jean, Daniel listed everything she had done since her return to the country, leaving Brad to draw his own conclusions. Daniel even went as far as to analyze specific incidents from Brad and Jean's past together.
Daniel simply told Brad to think it over and get srest when he was done. At that time, Brad wasn't just disappointed, he was heartbroken.
Six years ago, Jean had invited him to meet at Palace Restaurant. She told him that Adam was forcing her to leave and that she would never be able to return to Janctera City again. She wanted to see Brad one last tand give herself to him.
Brad agreed to meet her, but not for the reasons she had in mind. He intended to meet up with Jean and plead with his grandfather to let her stay. Unfortunately, even though she offered herself to him that night, she still left Janctera City.
When he cto, he was in the hospital, and Jean was already on a plane out of the country. His health was so poor back then that he couldn't bring himself to care about love or hate anymore. He locked his heart away, becoming a cold and indifferent person.
Now, all he felt for Jean was a sense of responsibility. Any affection he once had for her was long gone. Brad lowered his gaze and glanced at the still-lit screen before flipping it over. "I just don't feel like answering it." There was a twhen Brad treated Jean like she was the most precious thing in his life, pouring all his love into her. But when he realized that she had been using him all along, all that love vanished, leaving nothing but an empty void in its place.
It was as if a gaping hole had been ripped open in his soul, and a bitter wind was whistling through it, leaving him feeling utterly lost and alone.

As the past was dredged up, those long-forgotten memories gradually becclear. Brad pondered fan a moment before responding, "Yes, that's what she said. She toldyou were against us being together, that you didn't wantmarrying the daughter of a commoner?"
No sooner had he answered Adam than a searing pain shot through Brad's heart. It felt like a thousand needles were being driven into his chest.
Adam shook his head, his eyes filled with disappointment. "And you just took her word for it? Brad, you were ritz in such bad shape back then. If you had wanted the moon, I would've moved Heaven and Earth to get it for you. Why would I have a problem with you marrying a girl?"
