Chapter 111 Apologize To Hadley Immediately

Denver got back from Prineville a week later.

His birthday celebration was set for that following weekend.

Initially, Denver had intended to fetch Hadley from West Twelfth Alley, but she was elsewhere, busy with

additional shoots alongside Elvin.

After completing her scenes, Hadley made her way to the party using the address Denver had given her.

Her journey was delayed by traffic, causing her to arrive somewhat later than planned.

Upon her arrival, a server ushered her into the bustling venue.

The party was in full swing, with a crowd of guests filling the space.

Hadley caught a glimpse of Denver amidst the attendees, but he was engaged in conversation. Choosing not to

disturb him, she found a seat on her own.

To her comfort, the crowd consisted mostly of people her age; none of Denver's older relatives were in

attendance.

Just then, a voice called out, “Well, who do we have here?”

Turning around, Hadley saw Danica leading a group towards her, arms crossed and a smug smirk on her face.

Hadley’s expression turned into a frown as she contemplated moving to another spot.

The history between her and Danica was fraught with tension, and Hadley preferred to avoid any confrontation

at the party.

“Where do you think you're heading?” Danica stepped in front of Hadley before she could leave. “Hey, Hadley,

it’s been a while. Why don’t you stay so we can talk?”

Danica’s tone made it clear she was looking for trouble.

Hadley held back her annoyance. “I have no interest in talking to you. Please step aside.”

e you, but

“Really? Nothing to talk about?” Danica scoffed. “Tell us, why are you here? Sure, Nyla might co know your place.

This isn’t just any party; it's private, and you're not even a real Flynn. What gives you the right to be here?”

One of Danica’s friends whispered, “Isn't Mr. Flynn around somewhere?”

“Is that so?” Danica raised an eyebrow. “Did you cling to Eric just to snag an invite here? That's not just bold-

that’s downright shameless.”

“Exactly, her friends said, exchanging smug smiles.

“Why even show up here? Did Eric reject you, and now you're hunting for another wealthy man?”

“That's quite the ambitious plan.”

“Trying to go from nothing to everything, huh**

Hadley simply closed her eyes, tuning out their taunts as if they were just background noise, saying, “Are you

quite finished-

“Stop it!”

The interruption cfrom a commanding male voice.

The whole group looked around, startled.

Denver, Eric, Marshall, and Linda were approaching

Danica’s gaze shifted quickly to Eric as she murmured under her breath, “Eric...”

It was uncertain if Eric heard her; his face remained stoic, his chin lifted, his eyes lowered.

Denver walked straight up to Hadley, taking her wrist firmly.

Hadley stiffened momentarily, her discomfort evident, yet she made no move to withdraw.

“You all...”

Denver's eyes were stern as he faced Danica and her group, his anger barely contained. “I want an apology to

Hadley, now!”

Danica and her companions were stunned. “Apologize to her? Why should we?”

Denver's laughter was sharp and dismissive. “You need to apologize because your words were offensive.”

“Offensive?” Danica was doubtful, her eyebrow arching skeptically. “I said nothing wrong. She’s merely an

orphan with no clear reason to be here.”

A subtle pull at her sleeve drew Danica’s attention towards her friend, who was pointing at Hadley.

To Danica’s astonishment, Denver was clasping Hadley’s hand.

“Wait! You guys are... together?”

“That's correct.” Denver moved to stand protectively in front of Hadley. “Hadley is my girlfriend, and she has

every right to be here tonight, more so than anyone else.”

His gaze swept over Danica and her group. “I suggest you leave now. | will not stand for anyone insulting my

girlfriend.”

His words struck them like a thunderclap.

The revelation that Hadley was Denver's girlfriend shocked all but Eric, who showed no reaction.

“Are you

all still here?” Denver was unmoved by their shock. “Leave now, or I'll be forced to call security!”

After all, this was his party.

It wouldn't be pretty to cause a disturbance here.

“Alright, we'll go!” Danica shouted abruptly, glaring at Hadley as she led her friends away.

Her friends shared her resentment.

“Can you believe her? After everything with Eric, she now moves on to Denver.”

“Nyla must really favor her for sreason.

“Poor guy, Denver doesn’t see it...”

Fed up with the gossip, Danica cut her friends off. “Enough, let’s just go. Seriously...”

She stormed off, oblivious to her surroundings until someone gasped in pain.

As she looked down, Danica realized with horror that she had trodden on Linda's foot.

“Linda?"“. Her complexion blanched as she stammered her apologies. “Oh no, I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?”

Linda hesitated, and just then-

“What do you think? Of course she’s hurt!”

Eric, who stood by Linda like a watcher, fixed a seething look on Danica.

Danica recoiled in shock.

“Eric...” Linda whispered, giving his sleeve a small tug. “I'm really okay. It didn’t hurt that much.”

With a significant look towards Danica, Linda dismissed her curtly. “Now, please leave.”

“Thank you!” Danica’s voice cracked, her nerves frayed.

“Wait a moment!”

Eric’s command halted her. “You're not going anywhere yet.”

Marshall intervened with a light tap on Eric’s shoulder. “She’s fine, Eric. Let's not escalate this.”

Eric snorted dismissively, unwilling to drop the matter so easily; his anger remained unexpressed.

Linda caught Eric’s glance and shot a cold look towards Hadley, understanding that Eric's outrage was less about

her and more an outlet for his frustrations.

Eric glanced at Hadley before addressing Danica sharply. “Denver asked you to apologize to Hadley. Were you

not listening?”

Danica stood there, stunned, her mouth hanging open.

“Now!”

Eric's anger seemed to peak at that moment.

“I... 1 will apologize.”

Danica faced Hadley, her demeanor softened. “Hadley, | apologize. | spoke without thinking earlier. Please

forgive me.”

Hadley’s discomfort was evident.

This was the first occasion she witnessed Danica submitting so openly.

“It's fine.”

Seizing her opportunity, Danica appealed to Eric. “Mr. Flynn, may | go now?”

“Get lost!” Eric dismissed her with a flick of his hand, his expression tense.

Danica hastened away, her spirits crushed.

Watching the scene, Hadley reasoned that Eric’s sour mood stemmed from Linda’s accidental injury.

Hadley recognized that, despite his effort, she didn’t need him to stand up for her.

“Guys...” Barrie, silent until this point, looked at his friends with a puzzled expression. “How did Hadley end up as

Denver's girlfriend?”

He pondered further. “Doesn’t Eric want to try to win her back?”
