Chapter 0233
“I don’t know if I'm serious about anything,” he blurted, and I could see the panic in his eyes. “I haven't even
thought about this long enough to know what | actually want. | never thought I'd find my mate, Judy. | never
thought | even wanted a mate in the first place.”
“Wait... what?” | asked, my eyes narrowed. “Are you thinking about rejecting her?”
He bit his lip, refusing to meet my eyes. That was all the answer | needed; my heart hurts for Nan.
“Well then if you have to reject her, then | would do it sooner than later,” | told him, almost bitterly. | wasn’t
hungry anymore, so | pushed my plate away and stood to my feet. “Put the poor girl out of her misery.”
Without another word, | left the kitchen, leaving him alone with these thoughts.
Gavin's POV
“So, | know that Irene is claiming her leg hurts... but I've done 3 different X-rays, Alpha and there's nothing
physically wrong with her,” Elizabeth Pierce said.
| sighed and leaned against the wall; we stood in the hallway, and we had been in the hospital since yesterday.
Irene kept crying that her leg hurt and wouldn't letleave. | ran my fingers through my hair, feeling
exhausted. | hadn't been able to sleep; | tried to get a few hours in the Hospital chair, but | was uncomfortable,
and Irene was whimpering for most of the night. | asked Elizbeth to do numerous tests to find out what was
wrong with her leg, but she’s been coming up blank.
| trusted her judgment because she was the best doctor in the world after all.
I nodded

“Thank you,” | told her. “So, | can take her home?”
Elizabeth nodded.
“Yes,” she replied. “I'm sure she could use srest and her own bed. I'll prescribe ssugar pills... we can
tell her it’s pain medication. It seems her pain is strictly mental and doesn’t actually exist. If she thinks she’s
taking medication to help with her pain, then her pain will go away.”
I nodded.
“I appreciate that,” | told her.
“I'll get that right away,” she said as she retreated from the area.
With a sigh, | walked back into the hospital room. Irene was scrolling through her phone, her brows pinched
together.
“Everything okay?” | asked.
She froze when she sawwalking into the room; she put her phone on the bed beside her and grabbed at her
leg, tears filling her eyes.
“Yes... my leg, just hurt, and Ethan hadn't cto seeonce,” she whimpered.
| sighed again and sat at the edge of her bed, taking her hands in mine.

“Once we are home, we can try to call Ethan and see if he can cover to see you. | don’t know if anyone even
told him you were injured,” | told her.

of left her high and dry the other day and we really haven't talked much. | wanted to spend sextra twith

| mouthed, “Thank you” before turning my attention back to Irene who had swallowed the tablet and drank half
the water.
Beta Taylor met us at the hospital and took us back home. helped Irene into her room and got her settled into
bed with her phone.
Once she was settled, | went off into my own room and started to get ready for my evening with Judy. | glanced
at the clock; | only had a few minutes before | needed to leave, Just as | left my room and started down the
stairs, | heard Irene screaming and crying. My entire body froze, and | rushed into her room.
“What's going on?” | asked, expecting to find someone in her room, but | found no one. | reeled in my angry wolf
and looked at my crying daughter. “Irene? What is it?”
“Ethan won't answer my calls!” She cried.
| groaned. Then Irene narrowed her eyes at me.
“Are you going somewhere?” She asked me.
| looked down at my suit and then nodded.
“Yeah, | was about to head out...” | started to say, but she only cried harder..
“Please don’t leave, Daddy! | don’t have Ethan and nobody else is here to help and support me. | need you!”
“I can get one of the maids to tend to your needs,” | assured her.
More tears streaked down her cheeks,
“You are never around anymore, and | miss you!” She cried “Please, don’t leaveagain, Daddy! Please!!”
