Reborn to My Engagement Night
Chapter 158 Most Likely Pretending
“I cto have dinner with you. Is that not okay?” Madelyn said with a playful grin.
“Sebastian, we have a meeting later,” Harriet reminded impassively.
Her tone was frosty as if indirectly rejecting Madelyn on behalf of Sebastian.

Feeling somewhat strange, Madelyn glanced at Harriet before turning to Sebastian, asking awkwardly, “Um, are
you guys still busy?”
“Of course,” Harriet said sharply. She didn’t even spare Madelyn a glance as she spoke, an icy arrogance
radiating from her.
This chilling and piercing sensation made Madelyn’s skin crawl as if covered with prickly thorns.
Originally, Sebastian did have a meeting to attend. However, seeing Madelyn’s aggrieved expression and
knowing she had specifically cand waited for him for so long, he couldn’t bear to turn her away..
Hence, he chuckled. “I'm not busy anymore. Let's have dinner together.”
After saying that, he turned to Harriet impassively. “Let's discuss the meeting another day. I'll have my assistant
inform you of the exact time. You should go hfor now.”
Harriet’s face evidently stiffened.
Who knew Sebastian would be willing to postpone such an important meeting for the sake of this girl?
However, Harriet didn’t say another word and turned to leave.
Following that, Sebastian neatly put away the documents on the table before heading downstairs with his. arm
wrapped around Madelyn.
“What would you like to eat?” he asked nonchalantly,
“Hmm... steak,” she replied.
“Sure.”

And so, the two set off to have steak.
Throughout the drive, Madelyn sat in the passenger seat. Initially, she had intended to strike up a casual.
conversation with Sebastian.
However, when she turned around, she noticed his solemn expression, as if something was troubling him.
She couldn't help but ask, “Sebastian, are you in a bad mood? Has something happened?”
Sebastian replied calmly. “It’s nothing serious, just sbusiness matters. | might need to go abroad in two
days.
“Oh.” Madelyn nodded, her brows subconsciously furrowing as her mind suddenly beca chaotic mess.

However, at the stime, she couldn’t recall anything. It all felt chaotic, and she couldn’t make head or tail
of it.
After a while, the two arrived at an Epean restaurant and each ordered a scrying of black pepper steak.
As she was eating, Madelyn also seemed somewhat distracted.
She found it oddly difficult to exert strength when cutting the steak with a knife and fork.
Countless images flew across her mind, chaotic like a jumbled mess of honeycomb briquettes.
Madelyn tried her hardest to recall what happened this tin her previous life. However, it was as if her
memories were blocked, and no matter how hard she racked her brains, she couldn't remember even the
slightest hint of what had transpired.
In the end, after thinking for too long, a sudden jolt of pain shot through her mind.
Madelyn instantly paled and supported her head with her right hand, somewhat weakly propped on the table.
A surge of anxiety seized Sebastian when he saw that. “What's wron
“It’s nothing...” Madelyn shook her head. “Just a bit of a headache. It's no big deal.”
She resumed eating, but it was as if her hand had lost all its strength as she couldn't cut through the steak.
Sebastian observed her frail appearance, his heart filled with worry. He immediately put down his knife and fork,
took her hand, and led her outside.
Sebastian?” Madelyn called out, perplexed.
He responded firmly, “We're going to the hospital.”
Before long, they arrived at the hospital, and she underwent a series of medical examinations.
After the examination, the doctor calmly stated, “Based on the check-up, there are no abnormalities in the
patient’s brain. The headaches are likely due to a recent lack of sleep or overuse of the brain. As for her hand
lacking strength, it’s likely due to numbness or temporary weakness. These are all normal occurrences. There's
no need to worry.”
“Are you sure?” Sebastian couldn't help but frown after hearing that.
“You can rest assured, sir. Our examinations here are the most prestigious, and there has never been a mistake,”
the doctor assured.
Sebastian wasn’t exactly doubting the hospital, but he found it strange. How could Madelyn have a headache out
of the blue?
Madelyn also found it a bit odd. | don’t feel like I'm suffering from sleep deprivation or overusing my brain as the
doctor suggested. So why is this happening?

The latter's loud voice cthrough immediately after the call connected. “Sebastian, where are you? Weren't
we supposed to meet up later to discuss smatters?”
After glancing at Madelyn worriedly, Sebastian replied coldly, “Madelyn isn’t feeling well. We're at the hospital
now.
“Oh, I sec...” Wesley responded, not his head. “All right. Take good care of her. We'll talk tomorrow.”
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Wesley turned and said to Harriet with a hint of helplessness, “Too bad. Sebastian is currently with that girl at the
hospital”
“Is she sick?” Harriet’s voice was cold.
Wesley nodded, unable to resist commenting, “But in my opinion, she’s most likely pretending, probably because
she doesn’t want Sebastian to cout.”
Upon hearing his words, Harriet remained impassive, looking neither happy nor unhappy. She stared at a spot in
the distance, lost in unknown thoughts.
Finally, she asked calmly. “That woman seems to have changed a lot, hasn't she?”
Wesley snorted. “That's one way of putting it. I still remember, back then, she used to deck herself out like a
total misfit, always stirring up trouble any way she could and being unreasonable and troublesome. It was
enough to give anyone a headache just by looking at her.”
He paused before continuing, “Later on, it was as if she somehow underwent a complete transformation after
she got engaged to Sebastian. She began to take the initiative to get close to him, showing various signs of
affection. Gradually, she didn’t seem so annoying. Though she’s still very willful, there were moments. when she
revealed a touch of girlish charm.”
While talking, Wesley suddenly realized he had gone off topic and added earnestly, “But | still feel that she’s
putting on an act! How can someone's personality change overnight in this world? So, | seriously suspect that
girl might be up to something again.”
Harriet nonchalantly furrowed her brows, acting indifferent.
She had always thought Madelyn was nothing more than a silly little girl, hardly a threat.
Even though the latter had somewhat changed. Harriet still didn’t take her seriously.
