Chapter 272: Chapter 272 Saying Goodbye

Emma’s POV

| wrapped my arms around Logan as tightly as | could.

I had no idea when | would get to hug him again. | had no idea if | would get to hug him again. Maybe the

darkness would kill me. Maybe | would never get out of that room.

But | didn’t care. | would do anything for my daughter. | would give my life for her. | would do anything for my

children.

“What's wrong, baby?” Logan mumbled as he pulledcloser.

| swallowed the lump inside my throat and tried to remain calm. | knew that | wouldn't be able to hug him

properly. | knew that | wouldn't be able to kiss every part of him. | knew that | wouldn't be able to say goodbye

the way | wanted to. Logan would know that something was going on and | couldn't let that happen.

So | forced a small smile on my face and let him go.

“Nothing,” | said, trying to sound calm. “I just needed a hug after today.”

Logan smiled and caressed my cheek.

“I will always be here for those, baby,” he said softly. “I needed it too. | can’t believe we had to lock her in there

again.”

| took a deep breath and released it slowly. She would be out of there soon. He would get to hold his daughter

soon.

“I will find a way to get her out,” | said as | leaned in and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

He kissedback and pulledcloser to him. | tangled my fingers into his hair and he lowered his lips to my

neck.

“I missed you,” he mumbled as he started sucking on his mark on my neck.

My whole body tingled and the fire only he could ignite started burning inside me. His hands traveled down my

body until he reached my butt.

Shit.

I had to stop it. | wanted it so much, but | didn’t have tfor it. | had to get Sophia out of there as soon as

possible.

| gently stopped Logan from touching me. | pulled back a little and he furrowed his eyebrows

“What's wrong?” he asked worriedly. “Did | hurt you? Did I...”

“No, my love, no,” | stopped him immediately and caressed his cheek. “I really want to have sex with you, but |

want to go check on Sophia before we go to bed.”

Logan sighed and pressed another soft kiss on my lips.

“Hunter is with her, baby,” he said. “She is okay.”

| gulped and gave him a small smile.

“I know,” | said. “I still need to go see her. | just want to tell her goodnight. | will be right back.”

| wouldn't be right back. Maybe | would never be back in his arms again.

| could feel my heart breaking and it hurt so much. Thinking about never touching him again felt like my body

was being chopped to pieces.

“Do you wantto cwith you?” he asked and | shook my head.

“No,” | said, trying to remain calm. “Maybe you could go check on Alex. | think he needs you.”

Logan nodded and caressed my cheek.

“I love you,” | told him and he smiled.

“I know,” he said softly. “I love you too. So incredibly much.”

| felt the lump in my throat growing. | felt the tears gathering in my eyes. | smiled, trying to push everything else

away. | was so close to my goal and | couldn't let anything get in the way of that.

Logan letgo and we left the room together. | was holding onto his hand as tightly as | could. I really didn’t

want to let go.

But | had to. | had to let go.

“Hurry back, baby, okay?” Logan said as we reached the stairs.

He pulledto him and kissed my forehead. | wanted to sob and grab him tightly, but | couldn't.

| forced a smile on my face and | looked up at him.

“Okay,” | said quietly and he smiled back at me.

He let my hand go and started walking toward Alex’s room. | felt a part of my heart break off and leave with him.

| forced my legs to move. | forced myself to descend the stairs and leave my home. | couldn't say goodbye to

anyone else.

| really wanted to see and hug my son. | wanted to tell him that I loved him with my entire heart and soul. |

wanted to tell him that | would always be there for him even if | never cout of that room alive. | wanted to

hug Andrew and treasure the feeling of being in my big brother's arms one more time. | wanted to hug Mason

and tell him how much I loved him. | wanted to say goodbye to Anna and thank her for everything she had done

for me. | wanted to hug everyone | loved and tell them thank you.

| couldn't, though. They would know that something was wrong.

| was standing in front of the cabin and | couldn't even remember walking there. | was completely lost in

thought.

| took a deep breath and walked inside.

My entire body was shaking as | was walking toward the room. | was nervous and | wanted it to be over

immediately. | couldn’t risk anyone stopping me.

“Emma?” | heard Hunter's quiet voice as | approached the room.

| forced a small smile on my face.

“Is everything okay?” he asked worriedly.

| nodded and looked at my daughter. She was sleeping peacefully.

“I just chere to check on both of you,” | said, looking back at Hunter. “You haven't eaten anything yet.”

Hunter sighed and looked at Sophia.

“I am okay,” he said. “I can’t leave her and | am not hungry. My mom will bringsomething to eat later.”

“Your parents left, honey,” | said softly. “They needed to go back to your pack, remember?”

Nate and Jleft a few hours ago after they said goodbye to Sophia.

Hunter sighed and shook his head.

“Right, | forgot,” he mumbled. “I am just s bit tired.”

“I know,” | said softly. “That’t why you need to listen toand at least go get something to eat.”

| needed to get him out of here. | could use my magic to knock him down, but I really didn’t want to do that.

“I will be here, Hunter,” | said, giving him a small smile. “Please go get something to eat. She is sleeping

anyway.”

Hunter sighed and looked back at Sophia.

“She will be okay,” | continued. “I will be here until you cback.”

“Fine,” he mumbled. “I am not hungry, but I could use a shower. | will be back in fifteen minutes.”

| smiled and nodded. Fifteen minutes should be enough time.

Hunter stood up and approached me.

“Callimmediately if something happens, okay?” he said.

| gave him a small nod and watched as he walked away.

As soon as | heard him close the cabin door, | approached the door and unlocked it.
