Chapter 681 That Day Will Never Come
Brandon wasn't angry upon being rejected by Jenny. He now felt it would be better to
marry a woman like her than Jolene. When he first saw the news about Jolene and James,
he was indeed quite angry, but that anger was quickly replaced by relief, for he was glad
he no longer had to marry that foolish woman.
"Miss Walter, you don't have to refuse me so quickly. What if you fall in love with me one
day?" Brandon smiled, thinking that matters of the heart were volatile and unpredictable.
He believed it was easy to win over women-he just needed to romance and treat them
well, and they would fall for him.
A corner of Jenny's mouth twitched. She couldn't understand how Brandon was so
confident in himself. "Mr. Britt, rest assured. That day will never come."
The moment she said it, Brandon's face fell immediately. Jenny didn't mince her words;
she went straight for the kill and humiliated him.

is about to begin. I still have things to do, so please excuse me."
Jenny left right away, dragging Stephanie along. She wasn't interested in continuing her
conversation with Brandon as she could tell his thoughts. That was precisely the reason
she felt disgusted with him.
Someone like him wouldn't understand what it meant to really like someone. Everything
he did was based on self-interest. While most people wouldn't think he was wrong, Jenny
didn't hold the same opinion. She was repulsed by people like him.
She led Stephanie to another corner. Upon seeing that Brandon didn't follow them, she
breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're so popular now, Jenny." Stephanie stifled a laugh with her hand over her mouth,
clearly enjoying Jenny’s misfortune.
Jenny glared at her and said in annoyance, "If you laugh at me again, I'll make them come
and bug you. Would you like that?"
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have laughed at you." Stephanie knew very well she couldn't handle
those people.
In the meantime, on the stage not far away, representatives from both the Walter and
Windsor families were giving speeches, saying nothing more than polite remarks. Jenny
didn't even need to listen to know what they were saying.
She couldn't help but look at James and thought helplessly, "What are you doing, James?
Do you really want to marry her for the sake of your family?"
Fortunately, it was only an engagement for now and not an official marriage yet. Jenny
could only pray that James had other plans.
On the stage, Jolene unexpectedly took the microphone. Jenny frowned, not knowing what

"Thank you all for attending our engagement banquet. It may have been surprising for
some of you, but not for me. I've liked James for many years, so I'm very happy and
blessed that we're now engaged. James, I don't
know how you feel about me now, but I want to let you know that I love you. I will love you
for the rest of my life, and I hope you can try to accept me. I believe we can be happy
together."
After her short speech, the audience applauded because they thought she sounded quite
sincere. However, James remained expressionless, and a hint of contempt could be seen
on his face. Jolene didn't care and turned her gaze to Jenny, who was hiding in the corner.
"Jenny, I'll leave the family to you from now on. I believe you can handle it well since
Father always says you're smarter than me."
Jenny groaned internally, "Why are you bringing me into this now? I don't believe your
words one bit."
Jolene then thanked her parents and finished her speech.
She made it seem like she was getting married, but it was just an engagement. The
wedding date was still not confirmed, so her marriage to James wasn't set in stone yet.
Jolene left herself no room to back down by saying all that.
