After all, Empress Heidi was the Nine Heaven Emperor's lover. Master Magaera would have
committed a crime when he lusted after his ruler's wife and even snuck into her room-that
was enough to get him killed.
Darryl grew increasingly excited at the thought.
He was too smart to think of such an idea.
Master Magaera had been on a witch hunt for Darryl. If Darryl could kill him with the help
of Empress Heidi, he would have one less problem to worry about.
However, what happened next rendered him speechless.
"Magaera?"
Empress Heidi's figure trembled at the sight of Darryl's face. Her exquisite features were
laced with shock. "It's... it's you?"
Empress Heidi's face was slightly flushed, shyness evident in her demeanor.
The Kaleidoscope Mask was pretty handy. He looked just like Master Magaera-it was
impossible to tell that he was a fake.

Empress Heidi was a wise woman. If it had been any other occasion, she would have been
suspicious. After all, Master Magaera was currently combing the Nine Mainland searching
for Darryl. How could he be back in the Godly Region? However, she was drunk and thus
did not think to that extent.

Darryl was stunned.
What was going on? Master Magaera had snuck into the Empress' chambers, but she was
not angry. Instead, she was giggling like a schoolgirl.
Was there something going on between the two of them?
Darryl scratched at his head and stammered as he spoke. "I... well..." He did not know
what was going on and thus could not find the words to say.
Yet, as she stared at the shell-shocked look on his face, Empress Heidi mistook it for
shyness. She smiled softly. "You’re the Lord General now, silly! You could just come to see
me if you wanted. Why the need to hide under an armchair?"
Empress Heidi strode toward him. She clutched Darryl's arm and said gently, "You're just
in time. I've been in a pretty bad mood tonight. Come have a few drinks with me."
All Darryl could feel within such proximity was an overwhelming fragrance washing over
his senses, making him gulp in response.
How lovely, how soft.
Darryl's mind had blanked entirely, but he knew what was happening. Indeed, something
was going on between Empress Heidi and Master Magaera.
Who would have thought that the high and mighty Empress Heidi would be having an
affair in secret?
Master Magaera was something else too. The Nine Heaven Emperor had always treated
him well, yet he made a move on Empress Heidi.
’Come here!"
Just as Darryl felt annoyed at the injustice of the situation, Empress Heidi pulled him to the
dining table. She poured two glasses of wine and passed one to Darryl. "Come on.
Cheers!"
Darryl snapped back into his senses, taking the glass and clinking it against hers.

Empress Heidi's face got redder; it radiated impossible charm. "Why were you hiding down
there?" ’I..."
Darryl thought about it before answering carefully, "I was worried I'd upset you if I came
here so late at night, so I thought I'd hide under here to look at you before going on my
way."
Empress Heidi could not contain her joy. She flung herself into Darryl's arms, scolding
playfully, "You are silly. I know how you feel about me. Why would I be upset?"
Empress Heidi pressed her cheek against Darryl's chest passionately." When Auten
becomes the Emperor, you'll be by my side in the Jade Fairyland every day. We'll drink and
read all day long, happy for the rest of our lives."
Darryl took a deep breath. He seemed to understand some things better.
No wonder Master Magaera had been insistent on going against the Nine Heaven
Emperor's wishes to make Auten the new emperor. It had all been for Empress Heidi.
He glanced at Empress Heidi in his arms. Her fragrance continued to waft through the air
as he took in her breathtaking curves. Darryl took a deep breath. Maybe Master Magaera
had a point.
