Chapter 345 Racing with the Devil

“And what do you want, then?”

Lucas’s lips curled into a dangerous smile. “The loser crawls down the mountain.”

The silver-haired man’s date leaned in to whisper something in his ear. His eyes lit up, and after a moment's

hesitation, he gritted his teeth. “Fine! I'll take that bet!”

Two sports cars lined up at the start of the winding mountain road. Sloane fastened her seat belt and turned to

him. “You can race?”

Lucas gripped the wheel with one hand, the other gently squeezing her fingers. “Samson draggedinto it a

few times before.”

With a roar of engines, the race began. Lucas’s car shot forward like an arrow, pulling half a length ahead at the

very first curve.

Through the rearview mirror, Sloane saw the silver-haired man pounding his steering wheel in frustration.

“Damn it!” he shouted. “No way!”

He clung to Lucas’s tail, trying again and again to pass, only to fail each time.

As the race hit its peak, he suddenly swerved on the third hairpin, ramming his car hard into Lucas’s side.

“Bang!” The cars collided violently, Lucas’s vehicle skidding out of control, tires screeching across the asphalt.

The world spun around Sloane, but Lucas’s grip never faltered. In that critical instant, his hands worked with icy

precision, slamming the wheel and balancing throttle and brake.

“Courting death.” His voice was glacial, a flash of danger in his eyes.

In the mirror, the silver-haired man saw the car miraculously stabilize. His stomach dropped. The next second,

Lucas’s engine roared like a beast awakened, surging back at full force.

“He-he’s insane!” the girl in the passenger seat screamed.

Lucas’s front bumper locked onto the other car's tail, pushing relentlessly. On every curve, he struck with

terrifying control, each calculated hit driving his opponent closer to the cliff's edge.

“Stop! You're crazy! Someone’s going to die!” The silver-haired man’s voice cracked, his hands slipping on the

wheel.

At last, at the mountain's base, he was forced to stop. He tumbled out of the car in a panic-only to see a line of

sports cars waiting ahead, headlights blazing. Like a drowning man spotting land, he ran straight

toward them.

“Help! Someone's trying to kill me!” he screamed hoarsely. “That couple wantsdead!”

Car doors slammed open in unison, and a gang of racers gathered. The one in front frowned. “Who's

“What, you think you can run after hitting someone?” the leader jeered, stomping on Lucas’s hood.

Lucas unhurriedly unfastened his seat belt and stepped out of the car with Sloane at his side.

The glare blinded them, faces hidden in the beams, but the mocking voices rang clear.

“Well, well. Racing in a suit? Who the hell are you trying to impress?”
