Chapter 284 Dawn and Duplicity
He waited the entire night-until six o'clock the next morning.
Just then, Sloane stepped out of her apartment building. She wore a simple top and jeans, her long hair loose
over her shoulders, looking effortlessly fresh and composed.
She paused when she saw Lucas’s car, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. Then she made her way over.
Lucas’s gaze shifted, a trace of panic flashing in his eyes. He cleared his throat and spoke in a calm tone.
“Morning. | just happened to be passing by-thought I'd give you a ride to school.”
Sloane glanced at the black suit he still had on and didn’t call him out on the obvious lie.
She got into the car, buckled her seatbelt, then turned to Lucas with a light tone. “Yesterday's press conference
was a big success. Congratulations.”
Lucas’s hand paused slightly on the steering wheel. His eyes-clouded with something unreadable.
Her breezy tone left him strangely deflated.
He knew the media reports were all exaggerated nonsense, but her complete lack of concern-no hint of jealousy,
not even mild annoyance-left him frustrated and adrift.

Andrew agreed and added, “One nfore thing, sir. The media has shown a lot of interest in the sixth-gen models,
