Chapter 348 Aurelia shot her a sidelong glance, her voice tinged with a hint of indifference, “Sheryl, stop joking. Arnold's affairs are his own, and | am just his brother's wife, so | have no place to meddle.” Sheryl smirked, “If Arnold could let you go, he wouldn't have called off the wedding.” “If Amold hadn't let me go, he wouldn't have married either. We are just siblings now. Sheryl, let's not bring up the past anymore.” Aurelia knew she was doing this on purpose, still holding onto old grudges.
Leopold descended the staircase, his arm naturally falling over her shoulder. His gaze met Sheryl’s, cold as ice, “Since when did you become so tactless, Sheryl?” Sheryl shivered, fearful of his wrath, and quickly plastered a smile on her face, “I was just joking.” “I don't appreciate such jokes. | don’t want to hear them again.” He left her with those cold words and led Aurelia upstairs.
Sheryl hummed to herself in frustration. She didn’t believe that Aurelia could stay in favor forever.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLeopold would tire of her eventually. The Stirling men were known for their fleeting affections.
Lisa forced a smile, her lips barely moving, “Sheryl, whenever you have time, join me for afternoon tea at my place.” “Sure.” Sheryl nodded.
The two had seemingly already allied.
Once in her room, Aurelia got herself a glass of water and took a seat by the window.
“Everyone thinks Arnold called off his wedding because of me. How could | possibly have that much influence over him?” Aurelia murmured.
Leopold knew clearly that Arnold hadn’t given up on her, and he was probably already arguing with Lisa about a divorce. But divorce wasn’t something he could just decide on a whim.
This marriage was carefully planned by some, so how could they just let him dissolve it? Who knew what tricks they would pull to stop him? Leopold pulled her into his arms from behind, “Regardless of what happens between Arnold and Lisa, your connection with him is over.” From now on, she would only belong to him, and he wouldn't let anyone take her away.
Chapter Aurelia stared vacantly at some unnamed corner outside the window, her voice echoing emptiness, “I know.” Her connection with Arnold was indeed over, but she wasn't sure how much of a connection she still had with Leopold. After all, if he were in the same situation, he would have made the same choices. Additionally, he was more ruthless than Arnold.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe took a sip of her water, subtly changing the subject, “Three years ago, | won a game against Sheryl and made her eat a spicy hamburger. | bet she’s still mad about that.” Leopold said softly, “She's not just mad at you.” Aurelia paused, “Jelena and Fredric...” Could they still be together? Leopold started peeling an orange.
Although Fredric hadn't divorced Sheryl, they were essentially living separate lives.
“Even though Jelena is your cousin, you married into the Stirling family, and you will be the head of the family in the future. So, don't get involved in their affairs.” Aurelia sighed lightly, and she didn’t know what Jelena was thinking, wasting her youth on a playboy like Fredric.
“Even if Jelena is at fault, she’s still my family. If Sheryl hurts her, | won't stand by and watch.” Leopold handed her the peeled orange, “Jelena is smart, so she can protect herself, and you don’t need to worry.” Jelena’s intelligence was in her ability to play hard to get, keeping Fredric intrigued and unable to give Sheryl any concrete reason to complain. If Sheryl were to act rashly, she would just give Fredric an excuse to divorce.
Aurelia broke off a piece of the orange and popped it into her mouth.
Sheryl definitely didn’t want Aurelia to take over the Stirling family. In her eyes, she was just Jelena’s ally, which would only disadvantage her.
