The door was pushed open and Eric, wearing a blue shirt, walked in carrying milk and bread.
He had been locked up for some time and had lost weight. His once handsome face now had deep set
eyes with a dull and lifeless look He bent down to place the breakfast on the bedside table, then looked
up at Stella lying on the bed with her eyes closed.
“Wake up
and eat.”
He took Stella away from the office of the city clerk without saying a word. He blindfolded her and took
her to the island by boat.
