| was half expecting him to say he'd cwith me,
but he didn’t. | wonder if Alanna would be there.
“Besides Alanna will be there”. He pulled the covers back and got into bed. “Do you still want to catch up on the
rookie?”.
That madea little less nervous knowing she will be there. Don’t getwrong | loved his mom but his mom
and his gran in the sroom with just me. Yeah, that madenervous as hell.
“Yeah”
| nodded. “But do you think you could getstea first?”. | asked.
“Sure babe. Do you want anything else?”.
“No thanks”.
We cstraight upstairs as soon as we got home.
We both wanted an early night and stjust us.
We rarely got to have that anymore because Jake was always busy with the pack and | well | was always just
hanging around with nothing to do.

She was hand wanted to have breakfast tomorrow just us. Knowing her she was trying to make up for
tonight. Nothing was broken just bruised and she was to rest for the next few days.
| was glad she was hand in her own comfort.
There was nothing worse than being stuck in a hospital bed. | messaged her back letting her know | would be
over around 11 and that | would bring breakfast with me.
It saved her trying to cook anything because she would regardless if she was to rest or not.
Jake broughttea and 2 reeses peanut butter cups to go with it. | couldn't resist because they were my
favourite. He set the tv up as | placed my phone on the nightstand and got comfortable.
“Have you heard anything yet?”. He asked getting back into bed and dimming the lights.
“She’s home, no broken bones and wants to have breakfast tomorrow”.
“Thats good, isn't it?”.
“Yeah”. | nodded.
“What's wrong?”. He asked.
“Nothing”. | frowned taking a sip of my tea. “Can you put it on?”.
“You think something is wrong, don’t you?”.
“No”. | shook my head. “She's home, she’s fine and that’s all that matters now can you press play”.
He said nothing more on the matter and pressed play.
| jerked awake and sat up.
“Jake”. | pushed his shoulder.
Someone was pounding on our front door. | grabbed my phone to check the time. It was late, almost 2am.
Something was wrong. That's the only reason someone would chere at this time. | nudged him again a
groan falling from his lips.
“Someone’s at the-....."”. | was cut off as the loud knocking reached our ears.
He jumped out of bed and stormed off down the stairs. | followed suit. It could be anyone, and it could be anyone
that’s hurt or in danger.
“You stay put”. He disappeared into the kitchen and cback with a pair of shorts on.
| sat on the bottom step of the stairs waiting for him to open the door.
“I'm sorry to disturb you both at this tof night”.
Rocco spoke. “But we've found something and I'd rather you ccheck it out yourself”.
Found what?
“What's going on Rocco?”. He asked.
“There's a wolf caught in one of the traps”. He whispered but | heard every word.
“One of ours?”.
He shook his head no.
“Giveten minutes”. Jake closed the door his eyes landing on mine.
“Go back to bed I'll be back soon”.
For once | didn’t argue with him about staying put. | could already tell he was in full Alpha mode, and | didn’t
want to mess with him. | nodded and made my way back upstairs.
He would telltomorrow. | just hoped no one was seriously hurt.
