Chapter 24
When Xavier arrived in his car, he couldn‘t see the faces of the two people fighting because
the headlights were too bright.
However, he recalled one of them looked like a woman. Additionally, there was a spot on
her heel that reflected the headlights. He remembered that clearly because the reflected
light hurt his eyes.
The thing reflecting the headlights looked just like the stud on Winnie‘s boots.
Not only that, the woman in his memory was about the same height as Winnie.
A frown formed on Xavier‘s face as he opened the door again. With a suspicious look in his
eyes, he stared at Winnie‘s face.
Winnie instantly noticed the way he looked at her had changed. However, she didn‘t know
what was giving her away, so she continued to act innocent like before.
“Come and sit with me in the car, Handsome.” As she spoke, she even patted the spot next
to her in a dim–witted manner.
Xavier kneeled in front of her, gently held her injured hand, and stared at her. “Tell me,
Dumbo. What clothes were you wearing today?”
“Clothes?” She lowered her head and stared at the sweater on her. “It‘s pink, and I have a
pretty necklace.”
“I‘m asking about your coat, Winnie.”
Why did he suddenly ask about my coat? Is he getting suspicious? Hmm, he must‘ve seen it
when I was fighting with that guy with a scar earlier. However, he and his goons had all run
away earlier. There are no witnesses around anymore. As long as I continue to play dumb,
Xavier can‘t do anything to me. So what if I said I was wearing a black coat? You can grab
any random person off the street, and you‘ll see they are wearing black coats. Winnie
stayed silent for a moment before answering, “Uhm, let me think… It‘s black. If you don‘t

After her sentence concluded, she was going to exit the car to find Mary.
She even intentionally used her injured hand to open the car door and hurt herself. “Ouch!
My hand is in so much pain…”
Xavier began to wonder if he was overthinking it as he stared at the clumsy woman in front
of him. Still, it‘s just a stud. There are many shoes with a stud. This doesn‘t mean anything.
However, there were still questions in his mind. “When the bad guys took you away, did
someone come to rescue you?”
“There is!” Winnie replied confidently with a pair of sparkling eyes. “It‘s you, Handsome!

Then she kissed him on his cheek.
The sudden soft and wet sensation on his face triggered something in his brain.
In that split second, he wanted to clasp the back of her head tightly before invading and
dominating her to show her what a true kiss was like.
However, his lust was extinguished when he saw her sparkling eyes.
In a quick, single motion, he stood up and pulled out his phone. “Let me save people first.”
When the door closed, the innocence and purity in Winnie‘s eyes faded. Who set this up to
mess with me? Hmm, it seems like the most likely suspect is the person I met at the
hospital earlier, Kylie. Hah, she really needs to be taught a lesson. My hand was hurt, and
my identity was almost exposed because of her.
In an effort to avoid making Xavier suspicious, she continued to act as if she hadn‘t learned
her lesson and clamored that she wanted to sleep with him.
When her wish was fulfilled, she couldn‘t help but continue to act stupid and tease him. She
just really liked seeing him acting unlike himself when he was around her.
More than that, she liked his deep, hoarse voice. It was so alluring to her that she couldn‘t
help but want to possess him entirely.
Yet, it seemed like he was avoiding her. The pain she suffered that night was still fresh on
her mind, so, in the end, she didn‘t push her luck.
That didn‘t bother her because she still enjoyed sleeping with a man who was as warm as a
heater.
The same couldn‘t be said for Xavier. He was in a state of mental and physical torment for
the entire night. Thus, when he woke up the next day, black bags could be seen under his
eyes.
He didn‘t even eat breakfast with Winnie. Instead, he immediately drove to his company.
The first thing he did for the day was investigating Winnie‘s kidnapping attempt last night.
Sadly, there weren‘t any surveillance cameras at the abandoned construction site from last
night. Not only that, neither the driver nor Mary saw the kidnappers‘ faces.
Winnie did, but she pretended not to be able to describe the situation clearly and remember
what the kidnappers looked like.
Thankfully, a camera on the road took a picture of the man who pretended to be the driver.
Il was the man with a scar on his face.
Scarface escaped, but Xavier was able to find a connection between him and Zyon using
the internet.
“Hah, so it‘s him again. I guess he‘s really eager to visit the afterlife.” When he thought
about how injured Winnie was, an aura of fury instantly enveloped his entire body.
“Put aside everything you‘re doing right now, Louis. I want you to investigate this matter
quickly and thoroughly! I can‘t wait any longer!” He was very eager to return the favor to
Zyon.
“Understood, Mr. Xavier,” Louis answered.
“Also, cancel the meeting at five in the afternoon and the dinner later at night.”
“The afternoon meeting about the MG project is very important, though, Mr. Xavier.” A
troubled look was visible on Louis‘ face.
“Just do as I say.” Xavier frowned. “Do I need to repeat myself?”

arrangements after canceling the meeting and dinner?”
“No need. I’ll be going back to Lagune Mansion.”
“Understood, Mr. Xavier. I‘ll notify them now.” It became apparent to Louis that, even
though Winnie was mentally challenged, his boss seemed to pay a lot of attention to her. I
can‘t say I don‘t get it, though. After seeing her myself, she‘s certainly attractive enough to
seduce even a king.
Mary was drugged, so she was still staying in the hospital. Therefore, Xavier didn‘t tell
anyone he was returning to Lagune Mansion, including Winnie.
Winnie‘s guard was down because she didn‘t expect he would return early.
During her afternoon nap, she accidentally slept until over five in the afternoon.
After she glanced at the clock, she realized it was about time to have a meeting with
Nathaniel. So, she prepared to contact him in the playroom.
Just as she headed to the playroom, she realized the door was left ajar.
Winnie had asked Mary before to tell every housekeeper in the mansion never to enter the
playroom, not even to clean it up.
Yet, the door to the playroom was opened.
Who went in? Will that person find out my secret? She stepped forward and pushed the
door open with a heavy expression.
With the door wide open, she saw the person standing inside the room.
It was Xavier.
Currently, he was squatting in front of the Peppa Pig luggage, where she was hiding her
computer.
When he noticed she was in the room with him, he questioned her with a serious
expression. “What is this?”
