Chapter 227 A distraction
Marvin, with a slight raise of his eyebrows, said, “I guess I'm just talented.”
He kept to himself that he had learned to cook specifically for her.
As Sarah continued to enjoy the noodles, a thought struck her.
“I should have asked you to cook when you were staying at my place!”
The idea of Marvin, a distinguished young master, cooking was quite an amusing thought to her. Marvin, with his
elbow resting on the back of his chair and a suggestive look, said, “It’s still possible now.”
“Hmm?”
Sarah, with a strand of noodle hanging from her mouth, looked up in confusion.
It took her a moment to catch on to what he was implying, and she quickly went back to her noodles, pretending
not to have caught on to his suggestion.
The cozy atmosphere seemed to fade a bit.
Marvin casually twirled his fingertips, watching Sarah as if she was a challenge he was content to wait out.
He wasn’t in any hurry. He knew twas on his side.
Catherine was quickly cast out of the industry.
In just one day, from her first appearance on a talent show to her latest public events, every bit of her presence
was wiped clean.

The crew was really thankful for Renee's help during this chaos, especially since Renee had becmuch more

With her schedule for “Workplace Dlary” looming, Renee had to hurry through her work on “Peerless Grace,”
postponing her lectures at Bellbanks University till next month.
After a hectic few days, Rence finished all her tasks.
As she was leaving the “Peerless Grace” set, reporters crowded around her.

“Renee, are you happy with “The Joy of Heart? Did you start the partnership with Gerardo?”
“Gerardo spoke very highly of the song. As its composer, do you think about joining the music business?”
Surrounded by cameras, microphones, and questions, it took Renee a moment to realize these were reporters.
“What song are you talking about?” She asked.
“The Joy of Heart“!”
In response, Renee massaged her forehead and took out her phone to look up “The Joy of Heart” that the
reporters mentioned.
Released just two days prior, “The Joy of Heart” had soared to the top of various music charts overnight.
The song, a collaboration between Gerardo who produced and wrote it, and Damian who performed it, became
an immediate success.
Damian, renowned for his work as an independent artist who often handles the production, writing, and
performance of his music, explained his decision to collaborate with Gerardo simply. “It was the composer's
influence.”
The mention of the composer sparked everyone's curiosity, leading to a quick search which revealed it was
Renee.
Once again, it was Renee.
Upon playing the song, Renee recognized the opening notes as the melody she had created for Jessica and then
given to Gerardo.
It appeared Gerardo had given her credit for the work.
Had he misunderstood the concept of being “anonymous”?
“I never intended to break into the music scene,” Renee remarked with a sigh.
“Then...”
“Excuse me, I'm quite busy at the moment. Could you please clear the way? Thank you!”
Seeing they weren't moving, Renee had no choice but to head back into the stubuilding to call security to
block them while she made her escape.
She wasn’t a celebrity and didn’t have to deal with these reporters.

“Are you talking about ‘The Joy of Heart?” Akira, puzzled, asked. “I've heard a song just like this from an
independent composer named ‘B‘ on an international site. Are you sure it’s originally Renee's?”
Renee stopped her car, pulled out her phone to see what was going on.
As she expected, she was trending again, but this tthe headline read, “Renee Not Doing Her Job!”
How was she not doing her job?
Why were people criticizing her?
Determined to face her critics, Renee clicked on the news and found comments about her. “Guess what? As a
beautiful and professional stylist, Renee has great abilities in composing, playing many musical instruments, and
dancing. Oh, don’t forget she won a gold medal at a math Olympiad at a young age, and now she has a master’s
degree and has graduated earlier than her classmates. Every t| see a versatile talent like Renee, | will think
that this world is just so unfair!”
“It's like God liked her a lot, giving her many talents and no drawbacks!”
“We average people had better not compare ourselves with someone like Renee. It's so embarrassing.”
“And that brings up the old question: Are the past versions of Renee the sas the current Renee?” Renee was
at a loss for words.
She didn’t expect that she would be the trending topic.
But soon, she calmed down and didn’t care much anymore. She had gotten used to ignoring it. These topics
would quickly be forgotten by people online if they didn’t keep talking about them.
Renee called Marcelo. “Have you left work yet?”
“Not yet.”
“When do you think you'll be done? I've just wrapped up at work, and if you're about to head out, | can cby
and pick you up.”
Marcelo looked at the towering stack of papers on his desk and said firmly, “Givefive minutes.” Luke, who
was waiting to get his documents approved, was at a loss for words.
“I'll wait for you in the parking lot, then!”
Renee ended the call with a smile and headed towards the KM Group building.
It was her first tpicking Marcelo up after work, and she felt a mix of ty and excitement. “Sir, you said
five minutes?” Luke had an inkling but hoped he was mistaken.
“Ill be finishing work in five minutes.”
Luke found himself speechless again. He had guessed correctly.
Luke didn’t give up. “Sir, there are so many documents. Can you really finish them in five minutes? The product

department is waiting for your signature.”
Marcelo quickly signed off on the two most critical documents and put the others aside.
“I didn’t tell them to stay late.” He picked up his coat and headed for the door.
“Tto call it a day, everyone.”
Luke was left speechless again. Marcelo never used to worry about his staff like this.
“No need to arrange someone to sendoff,” Marcelo said as he reached the door, adding, “Renee is coming to
get me.”
Luke remained quiet, then finally said, “Right, madam is really good to you!”
Then he muttered to himself, “There’s no need to make a big deal about the lady picking you up! Who else but
madam could get you to leave your work behind like this!”
Renee was sitting in the driver's seat, going over the schedule the “Workplace Diary” production team had sent
her.
Out of nowhere, she heard a knock on the car window.
There was Marcelo, looking handsas ever, outside the passenger window.
Renee quickly unlocked the car door for him.
As soon as he hopped in, he didn’t even wait to settle down before he gently held the back of her head and drew
her into a kiss.
This kiss, sudden and quite intense, left her in a whirl.
Whether it was his technique or his strength, Marcelo always seemed to have the upper hand in these moments.
When Renee finally caught her breath, her eyes were shining, and she was gasping for air, looking at him,
puzzled and innocent.
Was this his way of showing displeasure?
Had she done something to upset him?
“Mrs. King, | was starting to think you'd forgotten you had a husband,” He said, tracing his finger along the
corner of her lips.
It had been three days since he last saw Renee.
Renee, ever the workaholic, seemed to lose herself in her work. She had spent the last few days in a hotel next
to the studio, keeping to herself to avoid any distractions.
And in her eyes, Marcelo could sometimes be a distraction.
