Chapter 72 Twenty minutes later, Emma arrived at Bateson Tower with the food in hand, but she did not head up to
Cerys‘ oflice as she wanted to avoid running into Trevor.
Cerys came down to the lobby instead, and Emma left as soon as she handed the food over.
The moment Cerys came walking in with the food. Cyrus‘ mouth began to water.
In a surge of uncontrollable excitement, he grabbed the cutlery and started stuffing his face while
declaring, “Cerys, I‘m moving back in until Emma leaves!”
That way, he could enjoy a delicious feast every day,
Before Cerys could say anything, Trevor threw Cyrus an icy glare.
Cerys sensed Trevor‘s displeasure, so he hurriedly pushed the chicken soup over to him and said, “Mr.
Bateson, I don‘t think this soup is spicy. Would you like to have some?”
The familiar scent of Emma‘s flavorful cooking wasted over to Trevor, and he felt his stomach growling
in anticipation.
Emma used to prepare all kinds of soups for him, especially those that were easy on his digestion.
He used to find it insufferable, but when he realized how warming and soothing it was to drink a bowl of
soup each time, he began to enjoy it a lot more, and later on, it became a habit.
In the year since the divorce, he never got to enjoy such hearly soups again. The memory of it would
surface from time to time again.
Therefore, he readily accepted Cyrus‘ offer.
Cyrus was speechless. He was only trying to be polite and he fully expected Trevor 10 reject it, but as it
turned out…
dinner
After noticing this, Cerys had no other choice but to pass her portion of chicken soup over to Trevor as
well. In the end, the three of them were able to share the dinner that Emma had brought over.

Trevor was sorely tempted to try the other two dishes too, had it not been for his sensitive stomach.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe next day, Trevor called Arianna to join him for lunch.
After hanging up the call with Trevor, Arianna quickly gave Crystal a call. She sounded a little
distraught as she asked, “Trevor asked me out to lunch today. Do you think he found out about what I
did?” I
She was never close with Trevor, and with the myriad of issues she tended to stir up, she wisely kept
out of Trevor‘s way to avoid getting a lecture from him.
Now that Trevor had asked her out to lunch out of the blue, her thoughts ran straight to the possibility
that he found out about what she had done.
“That‘s impossible. That number you used was bought by someone else and passed through several
hands before it reached your staff, right?” Crystal tried to assure her.
“Yeah,” Arianna replied. “I don‘t think he‘d be able to trace it back to me this quickly either. Why else
would he invite me out to lunch then?”
“Maybe he just wants to have a meal with you. Relax, don‘t stress yourself out over it,” Crystal said.
“No matter what, you‘re still his younger sister. He won‘t do anything to you.”
Arianna finally calmed down after multiple reassurances from Crystal.
That‘s right. I‘m Trevor‘s sister! Emma is nothing compared to me.
She arrived right on time at the restaurant Trevor told her, and she sat down opposite him with a
tentative smile.
After sneaking a glance at his expression, she gave a small sigh of relief. He looked fairly calm.
Finally, she noticed that the table was laden with her favorite food, and she felt at ease at last.
Trevor initiated the conversation with her. “How have you been lately?”
“Same old, same old,” Arianna responded between bites.
Trevor elegantly took a few bites before asking all of a sudden, “What are your plans for your future?”
“My future? Why do I need a plan for my future? I think everything‘s great as it is right now,” Arianna
replied breezily.
Her plan in life was to continue living an idle, carefree life under the protection of
Trevor and Bateson Group.
In her mother‘s words, she was born to live like a princess.
She was born into a wealthy family and lacked nothing in life, so she did not need to try and find a way
to support her lifestyle. Her daily life was filled with nothing but enjoyment and relaxation.
Trevor fell quiet for a moment. Then, he set his cutlery down and looked her in the eyes. “Since you
don‘t have a plan, I‘ll make one for you.”
Before Arianna could make any sense of what he just said, she heard him add, “I plan on sending you
overseas to get an education.”
“What?!” Arianna cried out in shock before vehemently protesting the idea. “I don‘t want to!” 11
She refused to leave the country. In the first place, she had always been hopeless when it came to her
studies. There was no way she could learn a second language either, so if she left the country, she
might not even be able to communicate.
Secondly, she was afraid that she would not be able to adjust to a new lifestyle and environment if she
went overseas. Here in Jonestown, she could rely on Trevor and Bateson Group to ensure that her
every desire was met.
Most importantly, no one overseas knew who she was.
At least in the country, she was an actress with some credits to her name, and she was known for
being a wealthy heiress too. She enjoyed this feeling of being the center of attention everywhere she
went.
However, Trevor‘s tone was stem as he admonished her. “Arianna, you‘re not a child anymore. You
need to plan for your future!”
“No, I‘m not listening to you!” Arianna shrieked. “I‘m not going! I refuse to leave the country!”
Trevor was getting quite aggravated too. He glared at her and his tone was harsh as he barked, “If you
refuse to leave, does this mean you plan on spending the rest of your life muddling around in the
entertainment industry? Do you plan on spending your entire life mucking about and getting into all
sorts of scandals?”
By the time Trevor finished his sentence, Arianna‘s heart was pounding out of her chest in fear.
Immediately, she began to wail. “Trevor, you‘re my brother! Is this how you should be acting? I told you

Arianna was in no mood to stick around for lunch any longer. She grabbed her purse and jumped to her
feet. “I‘m going home to tell Mom about how you treated me!”
She ran off at once, leaving Trevor behind with a darkened look on his face.
With the way she‘s crying and whipping up a storm at the drop of a hat, I‘ll be damned if any man takes
an interest in her!
Soon after Arianna arrived home, Trevor got a call from his mother, Alice. He knew it was coming, of
course, and he knew that Alice would kick up an even greater fuss.
True enough, as soon as he answered the call, Alice sobbed through the phone, “Trevor, why are you
insisting on sending Arianna overseas?”
“Don’t you know that she‘s my life?”
“You‘re busy with work all the time and I never get to see you. As for your father Alice sobbed even
harder. “Arianna is the only one who stays at home and accompanies me all day. It‘ll break my heart if
you send her away!”
“Dad‘s overseas all the time anyway. It‘s just as well that I send Arianna over. He can take care of her,”
Trevor said coolly.
His parents had long since fallen out with each other. They lived almost entirely separate lives.
His father, Jared, had begun to fall out of love with Alice once he reached middle age. Eventually, his
eyes began to wander and he kept a mistress outside. That was the final nail in the coffin for his
relationship with Alice.
While they did not get a divorce, Jared spent most of his time overseas.
If Arianna was going overseas, Trevor would ship her off to where Jared was. That way, she would be
in a foreign country with Jared to keep an eye on her, so she would not be able to continue causing so
much trouble.
Trevor‘s cold indifference riled Alice up even further. “You expect your father to take care of her? Are
you sure he still has the time to do that when he‘s surrounded by those vixens?”
“I don‘t care! Arianna is not leaving the country!” Alice fumed. She was pulling her feet down.
Naturally, it did nothing to sway Trevor‘s opinion. “Mom, Arianna must go overseas,” he said plainly.
If she did not, there was no telling what else she might do to Emma.
“Why, you–“Alice was so mad that she could not find the words to convey her anger.
“I‘m busy. I‘m hanging up now.” Trevor ended the call without giving Alice a chance to respond.
