Chapter 119 Inside the office at the top of the Bateson Group building,

Cerys was reporting his schedule for the next day to Trevor just before she was going to clock off.

“Tomorrow morning at ten, Wilson Young‘s book launch is happening on the first floor of Gray‘s

Bookstore. Our agreed–upon meeting time is nine–thirty.”

“That means you have half an hour to talk to him, sir.”

Wilson‘s s had always been popular with the masses. Every adaptation of his stories was a major

success.

This new book was his first in many years. Trevor had planned on purchasing all the adaptation rights

to the story. As a show of his sincerity, he planned on approaching Wilson with a substantial offer.

Trevor nodded to show his acknowledgment. Cerys then continued, “Oh, right. Emma once said she

loved his books. Susanna has given her a ticket to the event, so she will be there tomorrow.”

Trevor dazedly stared at her before asking with a frown, “She likes his books?”

He had no idea she liked stories like Wilson‘s. However, he did know that she loved to read.

After all, she would always have a book in hand. Be it on the living room couch, the recliner on the

balcony, or by the window in the study, she was constantly reading.

“Yes,” said Cerys. “She even said he was her idol. She had hoped to become a writer as great as he

is.”

Trevor fell silent.

Emma was so strange. Other women idolized actors or singers, while she idolized a middle–aged man

like Wilson

Thankfully, he was already married. Otherwise, Trevor would come to dislike him.

He looked down and casually asked, “She is back?”

“Yes,” Cerys replied. “I think she is flying in tonight.”

He did not say anything more after grunting in acknowledgment. She then said, “They are not married

yet, so she does not need to be by his side all the time.”

The word ‘married‘ made his heart skip a beat.

Just then, she gasped. “Mr. Bateson, do you think they will get married just so Mr. Zurich‘s mother can

pass on without any regrets?”

Despite her words, she did not know that Emma and Wesley were only pretending to be a couple so

his mother could die without regrets.

She thought Emma had actually fallen in love with Wesley due to his efforts to impress her.

When she recalled the dramatic stories being shown in dramas, Cerys could not help but worry.

Her words were a harsh blow to Trevor‘s heart. For the first time in the 32 years he had lived, he was

panicking.

His heart pounded hard as his mind raced. His hands were even trembling.

What she had suggested was not unlikely.

After all, he only married Emma in the past because his grandfather fell ill.

Christopher needed to go through major surgery, which the doctors said he might not survive. They

were told to prepare for the worst.

As such, Christopher requested Trevor to get married. Although he was dating Crystal back then, the

thought of getting married never crossed his mind.

However, Christopher insisted on seeing him get settled down so that he could die without regrets if the

surgery failed.

He gave in to that demand, and so they discussed the idea of marriage with Crystal.

To his surprise, she had wailed and insisted she did not want to get married at such a young age. She

wanted to make a name for herself as a celebrity, and if she were to marry, no one would be willing to

cast her.

Crystal even declared that she did not want to be a meek woman who had to depend on men in her life

forever.

Hence, she rejected his proposal, and they broke up.

After that, the Yates Family conned him into having sex with Emma.

They even brought her to visit Christopher in the hospital the morning after the event. Christopher had

then ordered him to marry her.

Naturally, he did not agree to do so and argued with his grandfather over it.

Christopher responded that he had a good eye for people‘s personalities and found Emma to be a

good fit for Trevor.

Currently, the exact same scenario was playing out once more, but he was no longer the male lead of

the story.

Although he was upset when he heard about Emma and Wesley‘s relationship, he did not feel

threatened by it.

For some reason, something told him that their relationship would not last long.

However, if they do get married, he would not have a single chance…

When Cerys saw the unpleasant look on his face, she hurriedly said, “I am just guessing, sir.”

“If that is all, you may leave,” Trevor replied, as he continued to work his way through the documents to

be signed.

With a nod, she silently left the office. As soon as she stepped outside of his office, one of her female

colleagues stopped her.

“Ms. Penrose, is Mr. Bateson feeling better now?” whispered her colleague.

Although Cerys and Chase were Trevor‘s assistants, they were assisted by several dozen secretaries

due to how large Bateson Group was.

As soon as the secretary asked that, everyone in the office turned to stare at Cerys.

She internally sighed. It seemed like everyone had felt Trevor‘s bad mood throughout the day, and they

were all traumatized by it.

Still, she could only state the truth. “I am sorry to say that our days of tragedy will continue.”

A howl of despair echoed through the office.

“Ms. Penrose, when I forgot to print a document in the docket for a meeting today, Mr. Bateson told me

10 hand him a handwritten copy!” mournfully said the colleague who stopped Cerys. ill!

“I had only let out a yawn when Mr. Bateson saw me, but he told me it was a sign I was out of shape

and forced me to go to the office gym for an intense workout session,” cried one of the guys. “My legs

ard still shaking.”

“During lunch break, I was talking to my girlfriend over the phone on the balcony

when I felt a chill run down my spine,” said another colleague. “When I looked back, I found Mr.

Bateson glaring at me.”

“It is not against the rules to be dating, right? The company never said we were not allowed to be in

relationships, and it was lunch break. I did not make the call during working hours.”

Cerys smirked. Since he had been happily chatting away with his girlfriend, it was no wonder he had

triggered Trevor‘s anger.

“See?” the first colleague said to Cerys, with a pleading look in her eyes. “Ms. Penrose, the office has

been tense the entire day. Please think of a solution to make Mr. Bateson happy. We can only work in

peace if he is happy, right?”

“Chase and I cannot help with that,” Cerys replied with a sigh as she pinched her brows.

If Trevor was upset over something at work, they might be able to come up with a perfect solution after

a night or two of overtime. However, he was upset over love. There was nothing they could do to help

him.
