Chapter 1108
Standing outside the CEO's office at Specter Corporation in Jadeborough, Bertilla was unsure how to report such a
heavy piece of news.
Only after hesitating for around five minutes did he finally knock on the door and enter the CEO's office.
Bertilla put the documents he brought in the pending tray, then looked at the man busy working. “Mr. Sutton, Ms.
Loake sent me an email half an hour ago.”
Cooper furrowed his eyebrows in surprise when he heard that. “What's wrong with my email? Why did she send you
the message?”
Some private matters should be kept private. Thinking about the content of the email, Bertilla replied hesitantly, “I
guess she wanted me to play the middle man because she didn't know how to tell you directly.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“What did she send you?” inquired Cooper, narrowing his eyes.
“She said she worked with an anti-drug police officer named Frank, who happened to be Patrick's brother, to wipe
out the mafia in Lostaria.” With that, Bertilla handed his phone to Cooper, convinced that the man should take a
look at the email.
The atmosphere in the room immediately turned freezing after Cooper went through the message, so much so that
Bertilla had trouble withstanding the intensity despite holding his breath.
“Mr. Faulkner also went to Lostaria, where he died with Ms. Rachford,” added Bertilla in a soft voice.
As if he could not hear the assistant, Cooper had his eyes fixed on the device in his hand while he calmly scrolled to
the bottom of the email, which was quite detailed since Frank divulged everything to Sally.
The message included what Genevieve did after reaching Lostaria to how she tricked Zephyr into boarding the
explosives-rigged cruise ship with the location of Carlos' gold.
Cooper suddenly felt a sharp pain in his heart as though he had lost the most important thing in his life.
Groaning, the man held his chest tightly.
“Mr. Sutton!” Bertilla, who was so shocked by Cooper's reaction that he almost lost his voice, hurriedly picked up the
phone on the desk. “I'll get you a doctor right away—”
“That's not necessary,” interrupted Cooper in a hoarse voice.
After shutting his eyes for a while to recollect himself, Cooper returned Bertilla's phone and questioned, “Do you
think it's true?”
Even though Bertilla knew what his boss was talking about, he kept silent because he was unsure how to answer the
question. Even a dozen kilograms of explosives is enough to destroy a house and affect those around the building,
let alone a cruise ship.
Cooper did not wait for Bertilla to answer him and instead calmly uttered, “You may leave.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHolding his phone, Bertilla looked back before walking away and saw Cooper keeping busy again as if the man had
already gotten over the bad news.
However, after Bertilla had left, Cooper stared blankly at the documents on his desk and remained so for a while.
The man, having lost the most important person to him, never returned to the office from that day on.
He simply handed the day-to-day operations to other executives and wasted his time away in his condominium.
Bertilla called once to notify Cooper that Johanna had returned and that Timothy had taken Asel back, but the man
only responded perfunctorily before hanging up.
Cooper did nothing but smoke and drink in his condominium and even ignored Amanda's calls.
Before long, it was December in Jadeborough.
The weather that year was much colder than before since it was already snowing in mid-December. The snow was
so heavy that it covered the entire Jadeborough.
With Cooper disappearing for so long, Bertilla got as anxious as a fish out of water. Even Steven called to ask what
was going on, so Bertilla had no choice but to look for his boss at the condominium.
Many terrifying thoughts began to cross Bertilla's mind when nobody opened the door despite the fact he had been
ringing the doorbell for a while. However, just when he was about to make a phone call, the door suddenly opened.
